Throwback Thursday: Celebs and Their Coach Bags

A look back at the evolution of an iconic American brand

For many handbag lovers, Coach is synonymous with nostalgia, and back in the 2000s Coach was in its heyday. Founded in 1941, the brand began as a family-owned and operated leather goods business before it evolved into the large corporation that we know it as today. While the brand made its name producing quality leather bags that are easy to wear, yet stylish at the same time, over the years the brand has seen many changes. While the Coach aesthetic has changed drastically (this is incredibly apparent looking at the variety of bags below), one thing that has remained consistent is its price point and accessibility. And though Coach has long since made itself accessible to people outside the world’s biggest fashion cities, its broad range of bags can be found on an even broader range of people, celebrities included. Today we’re taking a look back at some of the Coach bags spotted on celebs over the years. Did you love any of these bags?

Halle Berry’s extra large Zoe is everything I love in a bag! Wish it was more available and still in production.

My thoughts exactly – and at that price!

Michelle Monaghan’s is not a legacy duffle. It’s a duffle sac.

As much as people love to hate on Coach it’s a great brand. Yes, the post early 2000’s were a rough time, but for past few years the designs have been fantastic. Name another American brand that can compete (you can’t)? No one cares about Tom Ford, MMK is facing its own quality and public perception issues, Michael Kors Collection (underrated IMO) continues to fly under the radar, Calvin Klein had something possibly interesting developing but they pulled the plug on it, and Kate Spade, Tory Birch, Dooney & Burke, and Marc Jacobs don’t have the international appeal tbh.

Alexander Wang and Proenza might have a more luxurious placement but they can’t compete in terms of sales. And Ralph Lauren (despite their massive empire which would probably beat coach in terms of sales) hasn’t had a hit in the handbag world since the Ricky bag.

Like it or not Coach is back and it looks like it’s gonna stick around, and I can confidently say a Coach 1941 coated canvas bag is gonna last as just long as your LV coat canvas bag.

Carried nothing but Coach in the 90s when it was really good. Thankfully now coming out of that horrible mall girl phase – loving more recent coach and still use portfolios and travel cases found in the men’s section.

Gotta love vintage Coach from the 70s-90s. The quality is almost unparalleled.

too bad celebrities advertise their product, I had the worst experience with @coach – poor quality and lack of cooperation from their side to repair their lemon product! Only the rip off!
