For fashion lovers, the start of October brings with it the true start to fall fashion. And along with a new month comes a new bag for Coach fans. Just launched yesterday on Coach.com, we’ve got the scoop on ambassador Jennifer Lopez’s first collaboration with the brand. Introduced as part of the global superstar’s partnership with Coach, this special edition bag was designed alongside Creative Director Stuart Vevers. Introducing: the Jennifer Lopez x Coach Hutton Bag.
“Designing my first bag with Coach was a great experience, I really wanted the Coach x Jennifer Lopez Hutton to feel like me. The colorblock leather and polished hardware details are really my style. It’s a bag that makes me look pulled together and ready for anything.” – Jennifer Lopez
The design is said to be inspired by House values such as authenticity and inclusivity that both Coach and Lopez share. A modern icon, the Hutton Bag, is reimagined by Vevers and global icon Lopez, encompassing the star’s unique approach to style.
The special-edition Hutton is crafted from smooth calf leather with genuine snakeskin detailing and a fresh take on Coach’s signature turnlock closure. Finished with a special embossed hangtag that is inscribed with the star’s signature, this bag is designed for living life on the go.
This sleek color blocked silhouette was created with functionality in mind, featuring multiple pockets for easy organization and an outside slit pocket for quick access to your essentials. A long chain strap that easily converts to two short handles allows the bag to be worn multiple ways. You can shop the bag now via Coach for $495.
Wow! This bag has it all! A polished metal chain, color block leather, studs, two different colors of snakeskin! By combining all of these elements it tries too hard which makes it look cheap and unappealing.
This back is awful. It’s like they threw every design idea for bags together and called it a day.
Two different colors of both leather _and_ fake snake, plus rivits, a large clasp and a chain strap. WOW.
The pictures are nice, the bag is great for editorial shots but for real life – not so much, for most women.
I have no strong feelings about JLo&Coach, I just feel like she isn’t relatable for the Coach woman. She’s high maintenance, whereas I see a Coach woman being a bit of a free spirit with a laid back style with a love for great leathers and functional designs. JLo = Birkin and every single outfit thought out by a stylist. These people are miles away from each other.
I guess they’re trying to profit off the various 90s trends that are back in-vogue via this interpretation of “maximalism?”
Anyone else underwhelmed?
Yes, and who is the target audience? She is hip hop in the first photo, casual in the 2nd and more sophisticated in the 3rd. Is this bag supposed to transcend all women, young and old? It doesn’t work for me and I’m not buying the shit that she’s selling.
Lopez is an odd choice for Coach in every way. Not least given that ahe carries Birkins all the time.
Perhaps Coach thought J-Lo could help rep the NYC identity of the collaboration, since J-Lo is from NYC and Coach is (or, at least, was) an NYC brand? Disclaimer: I have no problem with criticizing J-Lo and Coach, rather I am just trying to understand Coach’s decision-making. Also Coach’s brand as “affordable” is in-tune with J-Lo’s own brand of still being “Jenny from the block,” ya know, despite the “rocks that she got.”
I think a better choice would have been Jennifer Garner, she’s more relatable. I agree with you re: Lopez carries Birkins, I’ve said it on here multiple times…Coach are you listening-she is not your best brand ambassador! Have you ever, before this campaign, ever seen her wear a Coach bag? She takes her Birkins to the gym, for gosh sakes!
Funny story in the video J Lo has with LL Cool J when she leaves him she is carrying all these Coach bags and duffle bags. This was like 2001…when Coach had a big following probably just prior to them being the outlet Coach. But I don’t think she is relatable to the brand in 2020 when we see through social media what she really carries.
I like Jennifer Lopez. I like Coach. I don’t like the two of them together.
Jennifer is best suited for the likes of Versace. In other words, a design house that is loud and ostentatious.
For those saying Jennifer Lopez & Coach is not a good match, go watch her All I Have music video
Yes, I know the video, but why do you think she is a good match? In the video she walks down the street with Coach luggage after breaking up with LL Cool J and this proves what? The Coach luggage, most likely gifted, is from a video from 2009. It’s a bit of a stretch to believe she is a good match based on this. Since that video was released have you ever seen her carry anything Coach related? No, because she hasn’t. She carries Hermes and other high end designers until a year ago when Coach paid a billion $ (idk, maybe more or less) and made her their brand ambassador. Despite her “appointment” she is still not a good match or even remotely relatable.
This is a brand identity mis-match — J.Lo is not believable as an ambassador of a contemporary brand when her lifestyle is very visibly and unmistakably premier. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Jlo is 50 trying to look 20 – why waste money on her? What 40-50 year old is trying to look like an oversexed fading star?
Jlo primarily carries Birkins so she doesn’t even use the product
Having JLO representing their brand makes me not want to buy them. She’s tacky, way overrated and tries too hard to be cool.
What 51 year old wears her hair in a toddler Minnie Mouse style?
Hideous bag. Uninspiring woman.
This campaign is a giant FAIL.
I like Jennifer Lopez, but this bag is hideous.
Jennifer seems a little to easily swayed to endorse products. I’m not convinced she’s sincere or would carry a Coach if not being paid. Sorry
I absolutely love the Coach Hutton bag, particularly the Hutton Saddle, but this is a bag that is meant to be more understated and minimal, to let the clean lines of this bag really shine. This JLo design is a grossly mismatched to the model of the bag. And unless the leather is real exotic and executed with superb craftsmanship, which I don’t think it is for Coach, it could look cheap and a bit tacky.
