Michael Rider made his runway debut for Celine earlier this summer, ushering in a new era for the storied Parisian House. Along with the new came a refresh of the brand’s oldest and most important house codes, as well as a revamp of one of the most iconic bags in Celine (and fashion) history.
The Luggage was back on the runway.
Today, we’re given a deeper look into Michael Rider’s Celine with the introduction of his first campaign for Celine, showcasing pieces from Rider’s Printemps 2026 debut runway collection, which was presented in July.
The Return of an Icon: The Luggage Reimagined
Lensed by renowned American photographer Zoë Ghertner, the images center on the Cabas Luggage, a slim silhouette of Celine’s New Luggage bag, the Smile Variation. Playing off of the House’s iconic Phantom Luggage, the New Luggage introduces a slimmer silhouette—elegant and refined yet reminiscent of Celine’s past.
Along with it comes a new variation, the Smile Luggage, playing on the original bag’s design elements, which often were thought to resemble a face. Made from soft lambskin offering a touch of sheen, the New Luggage is defined by its staple outer zipper in two variations, including the Smile.
It arrives in two sizes—small or medium—and will debut in shiny lambskin in black, soft tan, citrus, oxide blue, and deep brown. Novelty iterations will include suede and Porosus Croc.
The Smile Variation will be available for pre-launch beginning September 26th, 2025, in select stores and on celine.com. The full selection will be available in November.
