We don’t actually have a staff photographer parked outside of various hotels at Cannes, but I’m very much starting to pretend that we do, and it’s me, and all I do is sit in a patio chair under an umbrella at the Hotel Martinez while supermodels happily pose for me, because why else are they here? I’m wearing sunglasses and chain-smoking (because it is France) and none of the other paparazzi try to elbow me out of the way, because I exude cool and I am slightly intimidating in my velvet beret. The beret is how you know that it’s a fantasy.
