Celebs Keep Warm During Pre-Fall While Carrying Bags from Prada and Versace

And a wave of models engulfs NYC

The Pre-Fall 2019 shows are happening now in NYC, so there are tons of models running around town with great bags. (Try to be discreet as you ogle their bags on the street.) The Alexander Wang and Versace shows have already wrapped, and pictures of the surplus of models flowing in and out of those two shows alone could probably fill our pages for days. But we’ll pace ourselves this Pre-Fall. It’s not the singular event happening in the celebiverse this week, but it will likely remain our best resource for drool-worthy celeb bags in the days ahead.

No people of color… again!

Madi

I’d like to add as a person of color, that I too would like to see more people who look like me. You definitely aren’t alone and you’re for sure not “race baiting.” Asking to be represented has nothing to do with politics nor does it mean anyone is “obsessed with race.” It’s a simple request.

M Green

Thank you for your kind note.

Megs Mahoney Dusil

I know I’ve addressed this a few times, and will continue to as it is something that readers care about. We really do work to feature people of color – different races, genders, and backgrounds. We work with a photo agency where we purchase photos from their offerings, as every photo needs to be purchased for us to use. Some weeks we don’t have much to choose from, others, we do.

I think if you look at our site you’ll see a wide range of diversity – from features on specific celebs to our roundups to the images from campaigns we feature to closet confessionals we pick. We want to be inclusive, we want to be aware of who we feature, and I’m sorry you don’t think that translates to the site.

I’m looking into other agencies for photos and we will continue to work on being inclusive of all people who love bags as much as we do!

Jerri R

Meg, keep up the great work! I, as a person of color, am too busy admiring and critiquing all the amazing purses that you feature, to be pegging which ethnic group the holder of the bag belongs to.

M Green

I know you are working on it and I truly appreciate that.
I believe PurseBlog is at its best when it features a rainbow of people! Beautiful bags carried by a wide range of humans. 🙂

Ugh

Why are you so obsessed with race M Green? I am pretty sure they chose pictures based on what handbags are carried, not which celeb is carrying them. Would you like them to pick celebs after what race they are? Would that be both racist and insulting for the ones picked?

I think its quite unfair of you to attack them about the same question over and over again, especially since it’s not really rare to see pictures of people of color on this site. Rihanna, Beyonce, Priyanka, Oprah, Kerry, Jasmine, Naomi, Winnie, Meghan, EJ… etc. They clearly do not “censor” non-white people on this blog.

*sorry for double post I just want t make sure this post goes to the right person. 🙂

Irene

I literally go on this site to look at what bags are being carried because I have such a passion for them. Who’s arm they are on is secondary. If I want to look at the celebrities then I go on another site to view or read about them.
I guess we are noticing two entirely different things.
I think anyone featured on this site with their bag is in a position of privilege since I don’t see bags from target or Kohl’s.
EJ Johnson, prime example of privilege.
I see Chrissy Teigen, Jaden Smith, Priyanka, Rihanna, and all the rest mentioned above. I think it’s probably a big challenge for PB finding new bags to feature on a daily basis, but asking them to find new bags to feature and make sure they balance it out with people of color everyday is even more difficult. They probably feature and post as the photos and opportunities come along.
Maybe you should find another blog to read if you go on everyday only to count the white people featuted in it and become annoyed. Btw, I am of color but that doesn’t affect my common sense.

Irene

This was for M Green BTW. Sorry!!

M Green

I mean the following with no disrespect because everyone’s experience in life is different… but your post makes clear that you have no understanding whatsoever of the world I live in.

Ugh

I’ve seen that exact thing being said a lot lately. People with a different view are often dismissed with a “you don’t understand”. So please explain then! I think that me and others would love for you to explain why you are on this mission on this blog. I think it would be easier understand why you choose to focus this much on color and race when there is clearly no racist agenda going on on here.

This blog mostly focuses on American celebrities and black people and other races than whites are a minority in the US, so I believe it is only natural that they don’t appear in 50% (or whatever your goal is) of the pictures? There are simply not as many black celebs as white ones. As there are not as many black people as white ones. (I am also aware of white privilege so I am sure the celeb vs average people % might be a bit off either way, but even in a perfectly equal world black celebs would still just be 14% – number taken from Wiki, 2017)

I hope you will take your time to answer cause it would be really interesting to hear your view on this.

M Green

Despite the fact that your response is shockingly offensive, I will take time to answer in terms that you will understand: this particular post is at 0%.

Ugh

I did not mean to in any way offend you, it was an honest question. What about it was offensive?

This particular post is 0% black people, sure, do we really categorise people like Christmas ornaments in a OCD three? Two red, one green, two red, one green.. or are we just people who stumble across each other in various patterns in life?

Take a look at this site, imagine their photo album from where they pick pictures are like a big box with Christmas ornaments in various colors, with 14% green ones. Spill them out and pick 10 random ornaments for every post. Sometimes the post will have 10 red ones and 0 green ones, at other times there will be 3 green ones and 7 red ones, sometimes even 5 red ones and 5 green ones, and the next time 9 red ones and 1 green. Sometimes even 10 green ones and 0 red. It doesn’t say anything. This is not my personal opinion, it’s just math. And the outfall in a world where color doesn’t matter.

Arn’t we all just people? Shouldn’t we be equal? Why should I need to pick 5 red ones and 5 green ones every time? Shouldn’t every ornament have the same exact chance to be picked, regardless of it’s color?

Sorry if you think I am ignorant but to me to say otherwise is racist. Please explain why it is not.

M Green

You are desperately trying to delegitimize my original observation, which pointed out the lack of diversity in this post (an unfortunate pattern on PB). You may think it’s irrelevant to your enjoyment of the content of this website, and for that I am a bit jealous. I too would like not to care. I too would like to find this trivial. But, unfortunately, I can’t. Why, you ask? Because some of us have to fight every day to be represented in the media. Some of us are being consciously or subconsciously erased by a culture that considers that it’s “okay” for this random assortment to not even feature one non-white person. Not a big deal to you. A big deal to me. A big deal to all the people who feel underrepresented in this world and who are tired of being told to shut up and sit down by people like you.

Ugh

I am not trying do anything, I am simply just sharing my thoughts and trying to make you understand my point of view, just like I asked you to share yours. I just wanted to make sure we understood each other. And I have never asked you to shut up, I asked you to explain your thoughts.

Katy ;P

honest question – are you a troll?

Cat

Why are you mad lol. I don’t even remember the last time TPF featured an Asian woman or man. M Green has a point.

Hfactor

Ummm, how about the last 2 celebrity posts? Both Asian and men. Why so conveniently selective in your research?

Cat

Burberry? Lol that’s not TPB’s choosing. That’s Burberry. They’re just re-posting. To be fair, I actually do remember seeing Priyanka Chopra, and she def counts. But there are so many amazing Asian men and women with awesome bag collections. I saw Meg commented on an earlier post saying they were looking into different photo agencies. I think that’s a good move. I think M Green is right in that these posts are getting redundant.

Hfactor

Not Burberry! How did you get that? The last 2 CELEBRITY postings. Geez. Does Chrissy Teigen not count? Or EJ? You guys are obsessed with race. Wouldn’t it be nice if that’s not all you ever notiiced?

M Green

You’re right. It would be really nice if we did not have to worry about it. If it meant nothing. Some of us don’t have that privilege though.

Hfactor

Yes. All he does is come on a site from a country that is not his own and race bait trying to use click bait cheap headlines and 2 cent overused words in all the wrong contexts. Translation = desperately seeking relevance.

Katy ;P

Word!

M Green

“from a country that is not his own”?

Hfactor

Yes. This is a US-based site, a country you don’t live in. Might be best to reserve your rancor for issues germane to your own country instead of borrowing clickbait from ours.

M Green

I live in Chicago…

Hfactor

No you don’t! That’s such a lie. Don’t even.

M Green

Is asking PurseBlog to feature more diversity “trolling” to you?
If your answer is “yes”, then I suggest you check your own privilege before you attack me.

Maya

Can we keep Purseblog about bags, not race, gender equality, sexual orientation and so on and so forth…YES, JUST BAGS because last time I checked, that’s what this blog is about…I’m too old for this and I am glad I am…

M Green

Yep. You’re too old for this, indeed.

Maya

Dealing with fragile little people who can’t stomach anything anymore and can’t agree to disagree yes, THANK GOD I AM OLD!!

Katy ;P

Just stop it. Purseblog has been featuring people of all races and backgrounds long before you and your annoying,self-righteous, incendiary comments stepped on the scene.

Hfactor

He is just like Trump. The one everyone loves to hate but would miss if he was gone. Without him we would have no drama queens!

M Green

I wonder why you get so upset that someone points out that this post, like many others, is lacking diversity. Why does that bother you so much? It certainly says a lot about you.

Katy ;P

No, the diversity question does not upset me. You however do!

M Green

Maybe you should try to control yourself and stop attacking me? You are acting like a bully in this comment section. You have the option to block me from your feed if my very presence upsets you.

Arama

??? exactly!!

Katy ;P

I love Ashley Tisdale’s style!

Ugh

Why are you so obsessed with race M Green? I am pretty sure they chose pictures based on what handbags are carried, not which celeb is carrying them. Would you like them to pick celebs after what race they are? Would that be both racist and insulting for the ones picked?
