When it comes to handbags at the Oscars, stars usually play it safe; the stage is huge, and in general, none of them want to take a risk that lands them in a spot to be ridiculed. The handbag choices at the 2014 Academy Awards followed in that line of thought, but there were a few pieces here and there (in addition to a lot of traditional prettiness) that made our evening bag spidey senses tingle.
The biggest winner of the evening, besides Lupita Nyong’o, might have been New York-based evening bag upstart Rauwolf, which saw its bold, modern bags find their way into the hands of everyone from Anna Kendrick to Bette Midler. Below, check out all the handbags we could find on the red carpet (as well as a few from the Vanity Fair after-party).
I can’t believe that’s an Aldo clutch. It looks nice.
So does the Bulgari.
Crazy, right?
I did a double take too. Happy to see that it is a good double take 🙂
Aldo ? Really ? Like we needed be reminded that supermodels can get away with anything.
Didn’t Emma Watson look lovely? Not just the bag… her entire outfit. So deceptively simple (except for all the rings, which are a perfect look on YOUNG hands).
I was just about to say, I never had the desire to wear so many rings until I saw her ring game. LOVE it.
Wow, that Rauwolf Gemstone Clutch was the bag of the evening, amirite?! Do you think they sent out freebies to everyone or were everyone’s stylists just truly crazy for it? My faves were Naomi’s Bulgari and Sienna’s McQueen. I also loved Kristin Chenowith’s ring and delicate bracelet….
Rauwolf bags are AMAZING…. like small pieces of art, and unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. In fact that’s what everyone says when I carry the one I own. And men love it, because it’s sculptural and they are so intrigued how it’s made.
Exquisite … I’m a “matchy-matchy” gal so to me, this is exquisite.
