While you were busy decking the halls your favorite designers were not-so-quietly releasing their Pre-Fall 2020 collections and today we’re giving you a look at Bottega Veneta’s highly anticipated Pre-Fall bags. These days, anything new from the house of Bottega Veneta is highly sought-after by fashion editors, celebrities, influencers and everyday purse-lovers alike. And while some may argue that they miss the old Bottega, the goal for bringing on new creative director Daniel Lee was to modern the house with a fresh perspective while staying to true to the brand’s heritage. Lee has done just that, introducing covtable new designs that feature innovative takes on Bottega’s famous techniques. Though Lee’s most notable design for the brand is the, now famous, Pouch Bag, his other styles feature house codes like the intrecciato weave, but in an exaggerated way. The brand’s padded cassette bag is featured here for Pre-Fall 2020, with an updated chunky chain strap. Additionally, the oversized weave is seen on a massive fur tote which also has a chunky chain handle. Lee described the collection as “subtlety elevated, bold, and confident”. All the while it celebrates “Bottega’s heritage made relevant for today”. View the bags below.

Yes, but how genuinely wearable/usable is some of this? Fashion is supposed to be fun, so I hate to mention the conservation and sustainability issue—yet, I can’t help but wonder how much of this is actually purchased and worn? That one over-sized bag is laughable.
Runway stuff. Not many would actually purchase these.
Love, LOVE the cassette crossbody! Not understanding the over sized style though? Practical for what, smuggling?
???
These bags are awful. In 6 months, most will look dated and stale.
They are ridiculous!
Awful is too kind. Downright ugly.
Does nr 10 have a name?
These are fun to look at, not fun to own.
I love it! Gorgeous collection and awesome photos!
These are hideous….sought after by purse lovers? I have not seen one in the wild.
“Seen one in the wild”…?? That.
Some of the smaller bags are fine, but the large ones are just silly, especially #6. She has her glam/model face on, but it’s not working because the bag is swallowing her alive. Also, I wonder how heavy the chunky chains are? The fringe is too long and I would only trip over it, I am that clumsy.
Love, Love, Love!!!!
Dumb
He had the ramen shoes and a big ramen clutch in green. Bottega is getting uglier each season. Sophistication is gone. Brand is officially ruined. I couldnt help but wonder, who are buying these ugly bags. Oh wait, they are technically free if you are an influencer.
Agree!!!
Love the chain style bags!!!!! The photo #6, you can carry your toddler in while shopping, its huge!
I would LOL if I saw someone carrying #6! It is ridiculously gaudy and outlandishly huge!
I wonder if TSA will let you pass off #6 as a “purse”.
Seriously doubt it, lol!
???
Disappointing. They are also discontinuing the Veneta, which is a classic.
Oh Boy…….that’s about all I have to say. They are just awful.
I really can’t wait for the BV obsession to die. These are all hideous and just for the ppl who thirst for trends/ what’s “in”. In 10-15 years these will just be sitting in the back of everyone’s closets.
If they even get to someone’s closet. Probably loaners to celebs & the BV archive dust collectors.
I never liked all these recent Bottega, trendy & so pricey bags! Save your money, don’t buy these just because of the name, they’re so ugly!??
I can’t believe all the negative comments?! I love how original and colorful and elegant it is. The long and drippy contrasted with the big and squishy puffy is grand. The intense and gorgeous colors make me happy. The chunky chains are TDF. I sincerely doubt the crazy ones are for mass consumption but they make for a very cool presentation.
I agree!! Love the weaving!!
Negative? Or, just an honest opinion? I find them ugly and they don’t make me “happy”, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Take another look! You can’t really be surprised at the negative comments??
Boots I LOVE, styling is amazing, but me + any of these bags = not really…perhaps in some scenario #9 and 10, they are the same I guess, pretty
Glad I have the BVs that I have, these are just a no.
Enormous totes (white and fur) are pop art. Not practical but on runway are fantastic.
Boy, are those ugly! Impractical, ugly and downright insulting to the consumer..what are we, idiots? I feel like some designer was literally saying; “I wonder if they are stupid enough to fall for this?” God, those are awful.
Uh, no.
I like the chain purses
Long time BV fan. Only like 4 and 9. The large weave isn’t bad but the oversized chain ruins it.
I actually like this collection, it breathes some life into what I consider a VERY one-note brand in terms of it’s handbags. They took the concept and made it look super fresh, I like a bunch of the styles. Chanel could take a few pointers IMO
This collection seems to be polarizing but imo it’s doing it’s job. I’ve never been interested in BV before but the fresh take on their signature weave is speaking to me. While some of these are definitely not every day bags, they start a conversation. The over-sized weave cassette is really speaking to me (minus the ridiculous chain).
‘When your own initial is enough’ was replaced by ‘When ugliness is enough’.
I’m sorry but what the actual?
Fugly
I get it… the shoot is called “Extremely sickly thin women & extremely sickly massive bags”.. juxtaposition and all that art. I do like the first blue one in the cover photo but that model makes me scared shes just going to fall over and smash into a million pieces like fine glass.
One of the gigantor bags would be great for carrying slumber-party stuff!
I don’t like these bags. But I do like that the tiny bag trend and minimalist trend is lessening. To me minimalist bags are way to boring.
