We’ve been diligently working on putting together Holiday Gift Guides that should help everyone figure out what handbag to give or receive this season. Somehow, though, I didn’t find the right gift guide to add this little number to, but it is worth its own post.
It’s no secret that I am a BBag admirer and carrier and while I love the classic-sized City bag, the Balenciaga Arena Giant Hip is too hip to pass up. I’m always telling you how I love a crossbody bag, and more often than not, I go out and don’t need to carry that many items. For days like that, a small bag with a long strap is as perfect as it gets.
With every bit of Balenciaga in a smaller package, 6.5″ length x 10″ width x 2.5″ depth, the Giant Hip remains true to the brands aesthetic. There is a zip top that leads to the interior and a thin shoulder strap that has a 24″ drop. On this exact bag, Barneys offers an ideal winter hue of blue, dubbed “Light Atlantic,” and my favorite rose gold hardware. For those of you looking for a bag like this and hoping for a manageable price, the Giant Hip is priced at $815 at Barneys.

I have been looking for a small bag like that I can see myself using for more than one season forever. This is adorable! I think the colour is definitely a good winter blue, but would work well for spring/summer too. Christmas list, check.

This is a very cute bag. And I love that shade of blue.
I have this bag in chestnut and it’s great! Super soft, light, and distinctly Balenciaga. A warning though – the crossbody strap is fairly long. I’m 5’6″, and it hangs pretty well when I wear it, but I’ve had some friends who are shorter try out my bag and it doesn’t work out as well. I don’t think you can make the strap shorter, either (unless you loop it around to hang it on your shoulder).
It’s beautiful but still out of my budget.

this is such perfection! sometimes you just need a smaller bag… and the color! my god, even the name of the color is pure perfection! hahahahaha… Light Atlantic just makes you think of summery, airy days where you wanna go somewhere light hearted, eat cotton candy and be with some friends or your boyfriend and just be happy

That rose gold hardware is fantastic. I don’t think anyone does it quite as well as Balenciaga

While I love crossbody bags (and this one is certainly super adorable), I think I’ll stick to lusting after the City instead of the Hip.
While I like to consider myself a Balenciaga fan-girl, I think the true magic of the brand is best observed on the classic giant hardware City or Velo. Still I cannot deny that the Giant Hip is cute!
