Winter white has become one of my favorite fashion looks to wear over the last few years. I love it so much that I opted to get a sparkly white holiday manicure this year as opposed to the traditional red I usually get every December, which if you are a fellow manicure devotee you know is a big deal. Last year I posted about how I had broken free from the no white after Labor Day “rule” and I have been happily wearing winter white ever since. Now that we are nearing the end of December, I am ready to pull out all of the white items in my wardrobe. In addition to my fun manicure, bags are naturally my go-to to achieve a winter white aesthetic.
I believe that cream and white bags are appropriate year-round, but there is something so beautiful about a crisp white bag in the coldest season of the year. I live somewhere that gets a decent amount of snow during winter and I love the look of a white bag against a beautiful snowfall. A white bag is chic yet unexpected during this time of year. I often fall into a fashion rut during the winter after wearing the same three coats all season long, but a white bag makes a perfect accessory to instantly update and elevate my style over the next few months. We got our first snow here in the DC area already and I marked the first snowfall by bundling up in a camel-colored wool jacket, oversized scarf, hat, snow boots and most importantly, a white bag. The snow may have melted fast, but the spark of confidence my white bag gave me didn’t.
I have been nervous about pulling the trigger and purchasing a premier designer white handbag, but after wearing a white bag I got for a bargain at an outlet last year and seeing how well it has held up, I feel confident in my abilities to care for a white bag for a bigger price tag. I’ve got my eye on multiple white bags this season, but I am particularly obsessing over a white saddle bag from Proenza Schouler.
