Tell me I am not the only one seeing Blake Lively consume my entertainment news and social media platforms at the moment! The main reason is that Lively is promoting the much-anticipated summer movie release that followed Colleen Hoover’s best-selling book, It Ends with Us. Also, if you have not read the book, I truly loved it and recommend it!
Having finished the book and its sequel a few weeks ago myself, the story is fresh in my mind, and I can see how the optics of some of Lively’s interview clips are not well-received. While not looking to give away any spoilers, the premise of this story is not a traditional rom-com. There is far more serious messaging in the story that ties back directly to the title and is, unfortunately, relatable for many. It’s not a light plot, though there is a love story with it and some fun to be enjoyed.
So, while Blake Lively is seen wearing her florals as part of her method of dressing (while asking those who go to the movie to do so as well) and giving seemingly tone-deaf interviews, the news and social media cycle has taken hold and won’t let up. I would never want to be in the limelight for so many reasons, and this is one. A few not-so-great interviews and those bits will be all everyone sees.
However, one thing Lively has always been a star at in my book is her style. I don’t always love every fashion choice she makes, but I have been a fan since her Gossip Girl days and watched her style evolve over the years (check out our first Many Bags of here).
Lively does not have a stylist and chooses what she wears herself. For her premieres for It Ends with Us, Lively has fully embraced florals, down to her bags.
Novelty Bags on the Red Carpet
For her press junket for her latest starring role, Lively leaned into the flower theme, as her character owns a flower shop. It’s on the nose, but all the leading ladies have been leaning into this very direct messaging with their styling, and I don’t mind it.
Few brands make an evening novelty bag like Judith Leiber, so these pairings made perfect sense.

On Set with Lily Bloom
I have not seen the movie yet, but Lively’s character, Lily Bloom, is a Boston florist with a more boho vibe. We got a few peeks at the bags she carried on set, and they are a little rich from what the book portrayed Lily Bloom as, but still fitting for the character.

Chanel and Friends
Blake Lively has had a longstanding relationship with the House of Chanel, dating back to a close friendship with Karl Lagerfeld. In 2011, Lively starred in Chanel’s Mademoiselle Campaign but years before and following that, she had been a staple for the House’s events. She even accompanied Karl Lagerfeld to the Met Gala, which is not a small feat.
Here, you can see she is still a Chanel girl, with a sprinkling of another brand and some equally famous friends, including her husband, Ryan Reynolds, bestie Taylor Swift, and her and her husband’s close friend, Hugh Jackman.

No thanks!
Her personal style is some of the worst I’ve ever seen.
Wow are you guys tone deaf! Read the room purseblog, nobody cares about someone as insufferable as Blake, much less what bags she has 🙄
I am very aware of what is happening in the news surrounding Blake Lively and how she has promoted the movie. As I shared in the post, I read the book recently. The book is about breaking the DV cycle; it’s not a rom-com, and while Blake has given interviews to make it all feel lighter, the premise is not light.
I discussed this in the article and shared the bags she carried in the movie and recently, as she is someone who is currently being discussed a lot.
I also think it is a great opportunity to discuss breaking the DV cycle, but we may expect too much from an actress. She is not a spokesperson for DV, but rather a spokesperson for the movie, which is intended to make money. It’s tricky because it is a major lost opportunity for me, but I also do not turn to a paid actress for this. However, it would have been far better if she had a plan that further educated her on how she has handled this release so far.
“I also do not turn to a paid actress for this.” I wholeheartedly agree. It is time we, the public, stop expecting entertainment folks to educate us, rally for us, protect us, et al.
I mostly agree with you, but I feel that she had a lost opportunity and could’ve supported this important issue. She had a platform, but she ignored it for the most part. I don’t really depend on actors/actresses to be a spokesperson, but to act as though the subject matter didn’t matter as she was “tone deaf” as demonstrated in her interviews, was gross, on her part. Idk if I’m communicating this well, but I know what I’m trying to say. I also saw the movie and while it wasn’t as good as I expected I thought it could have shown support for women and men who are caught up in the cycle of DV. I’m a “survivor of DV” and was disappointed that there wasn’t even a message, at the end, letting people know where they could go for help. Maybe, I’m expecting too much, but this shouldn’t be ignored. It should be discussed in order to protect someone who’s caught up in the cycle and doesn’t see a way out. Movies can educate as well as entertain, but this did neither.
I agree with you. I haven’t seen the movie, but I would have assumed and hoped it would start and end with resources and a trigger warning.
There was a massive opportunity for Blake Lively, the actress, woman, mother, and influencer with a platform to use this movie to educate. The miss here was huge because the book really is about the cycle and how hard it is to end, but it was uplifting to see it end.
While I do not turn to actresses for messaging, there was messaging here with the actual book/movie content, and for me, that is such a lost opportunity. I have noticed her sharing some resources, so hopefully, she will continue to do so moving forward.
Was that part of the article added later? I definitely didn’t see it when I first clicked it.
The article hasn’t changed at all since it went live. I did not talk about DV in the article but did talk about Lively’s tone-deaf interviews surrounding the movie release.
This, 100%.
Bad timing. Lots of nasty stuff coming out about her recently — she doesn’t seem like a very nice person.
She is NOT a nice person, never really has been, at least to the average person. I went to HS with her and she was very pompous and full of herself then. Not a girls girl at all.
Did you all read the article? Megs talks about Blake giving tone deaf interviews and the problems surrounding her. I loved It Ends With Us the book and am going to see the movie. Justin Baldoni at least talks about domestic violence and resources while Blake hasn’t, shes been so tone deaf, I agree!
I loved gossip girl and always found her charming! Press hasn’t been good for her this week but I do like her Chanel bags!
Love her!
She’s Caucasian, she’s attractive and has money, most likely because she’s Caucasian and attractive. A quintessential, if dated, golden girl type. Her personal style makes the mind reel, which makes her endearing for some I guess?
Ugh, give it up for… Fake Lively everyone!
It’s sad to see a bunch of pathetic adults whining. This isn’t a political blog. It’s about the bags. Yet instead of looking at them , your being idiots. If you don’t like the post , MOVE ON. Get a life already.
I always find her a bit bland. Just a pretty girl with designers outfit. That’s all.
