Perfect Pairs Melissa Odabash and Valentino

I just got back from a relaxing and very sunshine-filled vacation to Florida and the Bahamas, and while New York weather isn’t quite cooperating, I still have poolside lounging on my mind. I’m waiting for …

I’ve been a longtime Valentino fan, and since the brand hit handbag paydirt with its Rockstud collection, it’s been fun to watch how the accessories continue to evolve. When I first heard the news that …

I’m so happy the weather has been cooling down and the seasons are changing. This is my absolute favorite time of year, right before it gets too cold. I love the transitional clothing that comes …

I’ve already got Fashion Week on my mind and one of my favorite things about Fashion Week is bag stalking. Come February, editors, buyers, and miscellaneous cool people alike will be hitting Lincoln Center both wearing and carrying their finest.

I have plenty of handbags in my arsenal, but sometimes an oddly different bag stands out and grabs my attention. This is precisely what this Valentino bag has done to me, lured me in and left me wanting more.

However, I realize not everyone loves the urban jungle feel of this panther-print calf hair tote with serious stud embellishments. Help us out and tell us what you think! Buy via Net-A-Porter for $2,995.

While Valentino is known for their floral embellishments, their Spring 2011 is completely infused with floral accents galore. One of the versions that caught my attention is the Valentino Napa Straw-Flower Duffel which features sand napa leather with multicolor crystal-punctuated straw flower appliques. Buy via Neiman Marcus for $2,195.

If you are like me and have been a long time fan of Valentino but have not splurged on one of their bags, this may be the item for you. Sure, the Valentino Petale Chain Strap Leather Mini Bag is entirely small, but the design packs a punch.

I was never entirely sold on mini bags, but I have come to appreciate their functionality in recent months. If you do not always have to carry around every last item you typically stuff into your bag, having an easily accessible mini bag is the perfect option. Lately I only leave the house with a couple credit cards, cash, lip gloss, phone, and my keys. (more…)

I have been in the midst of moving mayhem, where looking pretty is near impossible. But I took a break to shop online (what else is new), and found the most ladylike feminine handbag Valentino has yet to release. This bag combines elegant structure that is always welcomed along with a twist of fun with the leopard print.

My brain is frazzled with all sorts of moving on my mind but I want to buy the Valentino Aphrodite Leopard Bag. Never mind the fact that this is the price of a nice leather couch, I want to sit on the ground in our new apartment and keep this bag next to me. Then I would tell everyone how lovely she is. Because really, she is gorgeous! (more…)

Fall is all about fur and one of the other fall trends is lace. Of course Valentino released countless lace items, from shoes to clothing to bags. Seeing as how Valentino has perfected the art of feminine designs, it is only fitting for Valentino to tackle lace. As far as this bag goes however, it just isn’t quite cutting it for me.

The Valentino Day Lace Medium Duffle features a familiar shape (Louis Vuitton Speedy anyone?) with a black floral vine lace over. (more…)

Lace tends to be synonymous with romance, and rightfully so. There is something entirely alluring about seeing beautiful lace work. But lace is very situational-occasion oriented. When most people think of lace they think of weddings. I fall into the category of most people. My wedding dress was made with a beautiful lace overlay, one that resembled a vintage design.

Just because I do not embrace wearing lace for day-to-day wear, does not mean I can not add some accent pieces into my wardrobe. And this is where Valentino comes into play. Valentino is known for their feminine and romantic accessories, and this pair of shoes and clutch do not fall short. (more…)

You know why I love finding handbag looks for less? Sometimes it is the less expensive bag that catches my attention and that is a double wow. I can’t say that with today’s Look for Less though. Valentino is a handbag favorite on the PurseBlog team. If you see their bags in person, it is easy to see why. The designs are feminine, sexy, and luxurious.

One of my favorite designs from Valentino lately is their 360 Handbag, which features feminine touches on a large slouchy body. But at $1,400, it is not the most affordable bag. And that is why I have found a look for less with the Elie Tahari Pebbled Melrose Tote. (more…)

I keep finding myself drawn into Valentino bags. The continuous use of whimsical bows and feminine touches is so appealing. However, Valentino is not immune to having an off bag and this bag may be an example. Animal print bags really put me on the fence typically. I do not own an animal print bag, I seem to always find something I do not like about each of the ones I see.

The Valentino Leopard Print Goat Hair Bag brings together a leather bow detail at the front of the bag with a leopard-print goat hair body. Leopard print is a popular animal print that when put on a handbag usually skates a fine line between fabulous and trashy. (more…)

Valentino Floral Applique Satchel Oh, Valentine’s Day. It’s coming soon, I think. What? Less than a month. Oh, ok. So, really soon. Time to start trying to poach yourself a man, ladies! Or, for those that already have a man (or simply prefer the love of a beautiful handbag to a man), Valentino (what an appropriate name!) has created one of the most Valentines-appropriate bags I’ve ever laid eyes upon.

The Valentino Floral Applique Satchel is more than just a theme-y bag, however, and it may be pure coincidence that it should come on the market right now (although, probably not. Marketing people know better than to not exploit the holiday opportunity with a design like this). Entirely covered in tightly-packed silk roses, the construction of the tote’s exterior is amazing, and the finishing is ever so slightly rough, lending a fashionable edge to something that could very easily become a bit twee. Or really twee. The ombre finish of the silk roses gives a depth of color that also help avoid the kitsch and make the tote wearable more than just 1 day per year. Handbags of this type are where fashion teeters between function and art, and I’m more than comfortable toeing the line. Be one of the first people to own this handbag, pre-order through Nordstrom!
