For Spring 2011, we see Diane von Furstenberg emphasizing much more on her bags and accessories line, which we welcome very much. We see many new bags, as well as some old ones with new features. The popular Stephanie relies now on much lighter leather, making it much more wearable than the previous interation (which was a bit of a weighty pig, if I may say so). While the Harper gets the suede treatment, DvF brings back old print patterns from the mid-70s for fun vintage accessories.

For a season like Spring 2011, it’s hard to pick just one bag. Covetable trends in color, texture and print abound, and when a season comes along with so many good options, it’s tempting to …

Any post about Chanel handbags always elicits a fair amount of grumbling from longtime fans of the French brand who feel that its handbags have grown too faddish or lost their traditional Chanel feel, and when you look at the last few collections, perhaps those folks do have a point. In fact, a lot of them do, probably out of a desire to seem edgy or different in such a way that you might want to spend lots of money on their products in hopes of making yourself cool by association. We post them anyway, mostly because they give consumers a little peek into a season’s new bags that is often more telling than stock photos alone.

That’s why we were pleasantly surprised to see Botkier’s Spring 2011 video. Not only does the clip do a good job of setting us in a warm spring mood, but it’s a bit of a look into how lookbooks and advertising are shot, as well as giving you some serious hints at Spring 2011’s bags. Pay special attention to the neon green Ava crossbody with gunmetal hardware – I saw it in person at Botkier’s showroom in October, and I have to have it for spring.
