If you’re under the age of 30 and haven’t been blessed with the convenience of a trust fund, odds are you have a pair or two of Sam Edelman shoes in your closet. I know I do; even though a few of the company’s pieces can creep a little too far into Designer Impostor territory at times, the vast majority are trendy, relatively well-priced alternatives to spending all my rent money on shoes.
With the news from Women’s Wear Daily that the line will be expanding into handbags for Spring 2012, the accessory market’s options under $500 stand to improve considerably. Based on these pictures, I can’t wait to see the clutches in particular – I’m reticent to spend a lot of money on something I’ll be taking to a bar, so evening bags in this price range are a major obsession of mine. Even though the eighth night of Chanukah was last Friday, that doesn’t mean it’s too late to make my wish list. Besides, I spent the holiday at college and celebrated with my friends every night- while that was lovely and fun, my first Chanukah away from home lacked an essential ingredient: the presents. Let’s face it: I’m notoriously difficult to shop for, and even my parents stick to my wish list or a gift certificate due to my extreme pickiness. Let’s not call it pickiness, let’s call it “selectivity.” Yes, I like that. (more…)
