You have no idea how excited I have been while sitting down with the Rebecca Minkoff team to come up with an opportunity that has never been seen before in the handbag world! We knew we wanted to collaborate on a bag design, but it was super important for us to include Rebecca’s very first fan base, the PurseForum Minkettes, in the process. We took it a step further from simply allowing the fans to be part of designing an existing bag, because the finished product will be a brand new shape and style. And since we are taking it back to the original fan base, we are also taking production back to a domestic factory. That means this bag will be made in the USA!!

There will be many phases of voting and you do not want to miss any of them. Your vote is going to help create a bag that will walk the Rebecca Minkoff runway show in February. What are you waiting for?! Vote in Phase I now!

Vote now to be a part of this unprecedented opportunity!!

A day before the Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2010 presentation was slated to begin, Rebecca herself tweeted, “Who is afraid of a little snow??? The show must go on!” Well, that was before “a little snow” turned out to be a full-on blizzard that was enough to close all public and private schools and universities in Manhattan save for Columbia University (thanks guys.)

Therefore, if I was going to have classes as the snow frantically swirled around the city, I was going to make it to the Rebecca Minkoff presentation. Needless to say, I did make it despite my dislike of the cold and of the coldness of the snow, and it was extremely worth it. You see, I’ve been to a few traditional presentations, where the models stand on raised platforms and generally achieve a death stare whilst remaining in the same position. But no, this show switched it up, and the models were bubbly, twisting and turning at various intervals to show off the funky wares. (more…)

With Twitter taking off, it is only plausible that some new social media offshoots will pop up. We have seen some that we are not blown away by, but recently I was introduced to TweetMyBag, which is right up my alley. TweetMyBag was launched in collaboration with Rebecca Minkoff this month. Through February 14th, you can upload a photo of your handbag and receive 25% off on Rebecca Minkoff bags as well as be entered into a RM bag giveaway. Easy enough, upload a photo (even a photo taken with your phone) and get a discount on a Rebecca Minkoff bag and be entered into a giveaway.

Also, Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2010 Fashion Presentation is today from 4-5 (show will stream on Minkette.com). After the show TweetMyBag will have an exclusive look at some of the Fall 2010 items for you all!

Rebecca Minkoff Roadie

The Rebecca Minkoff Roadie is a favorite here! I played around with the Roadie and fell in love. I could imagine slinging her over my shoulder for a long road trip, traveling, or just going out and about. It is easy to wear, the perfect size, and has the perfect zing with the studs. There is an easy access exterior zip pocket and interior zip, slip, and card pockets. Wear it casually across your body or sling it over your shoulder. Measurements are 13″W x 9″H x 5″D; 18″. Buy the Roadie via Nordstrom for $575.

With images leaking onto the web of designers upcoming seasons, it is not rocket science to find images of accessories that are yet to be released. But you know what is better than images? Video. And even better than that is video that shows the designer and her handbags. We got a peek at the Rebecca Minkoff Summer 09 preview, starring none other than Rebecca Minkoff herself. Enjoy!

Rebecca Minkoff Easter Egg Hunt

Rebecca Minkoff Paper Plastic WalletThis Rebecca Minkoff wallet is the perfectly cheeky solution to the age-old question, “paper or plastic?” Sure you can flash this colorful wallet in the bag boy’s face, but in this case ‘paper’ and ‘plastic’ refer to your credit cards and cash. Made of Italian leather, we love the bright colors and sturdy construction. Totally functional are the generous pockets perfectly sized for your “I can always return it” receipts and zippered coin compartment. It’s the bold gold metallic graphic that really has us sold. I’ll take one in every color please! Pair the “Paper/Plastic” wallet with a Rebecca Minkoff tote.

Rebecca Minkoff Devote Belted Top ToteHoly poop, y’all. I love this bag. The Rebecca Minkoff Devote Belted Top Tote is, in a word, awesome. For me, at least. It’s a big ol’ hobo, made of great leather, in a bright color, with understated accents and JUST ONE STRAP. A lot of designers lately have succumbed to the urge to add an extra, longer strap to handbags that already have a perfectly functional one, and Ms. Minkoff didn’t do that to this great bag. For that, I salute her, and I just may have to get one of these babies. This shape is my favorite of all time – a hobo that’s slightly taller than it is wide with a giant opening at the top – all the better to dig through when my Blackberry has fallen to the bottom. That’s one thing this bag doesn’t appear to have that I wish it did – an outside pocket for holding my phone and iPod. But I guess we can’t have everything we want, can we, ladies? Buy through Nordstrom for $630.
