The Row has two interesting and and seemingly incongruous distinctions: It’s a clothing line owned by former child stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and it’s one of the most expensive ready-to-wear lines in the entire industry. By all accounts, the prices of The Row’s garments come as a result of the Olsens’ desire to make clothing in as exacting and precise a way as possible instead of just having Another Celebrity Clothing Line, and even if the prices are out of your budget, their desire for quality instead of another quick buck is to be commended.

With the sisters’ bag choices being a topic of discussion in the fashion world for some time, it was only a matter of time until The Row launched a line of bags, as it has for Fall 2011. And wow, are these things expensive. The price points for the regular leather day bags and smaller lizard and ostrich bags are in the $5000 range, but I’ve been unable to find firm prices for the alligator pieces. To me, that means, “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.” And, well, that’s probably true. The bags will be available exclusively through Barneys and Barneys.com. As many photos of the collection as I could find, after the jump. (more…)

I’ve always been a fan of Mary Kate and Ashley. As a child, when I wasn’t reading you could find me plopped in front of The Adventures of Mary Kate & Ashley or You’re Invited to Mary Kate & Ashley’s; (my favorite was the Mall Party). Now, I respect them more for their uniquely personal style and impact on the fashion world. Combine that with the fact that my favorite handbag and luggage design house is Goyard, and I literally jumped for joy. Well, not really, but I was exceedingly pleased.

Here, Ashley Olsen is carrying the Goyard Boeing Travel Satchel. I’m sure many of you readers have been curious about the world of Goyard, as the brand doesn’t advertise and is sold in few places around the globe. To those people and those to whom I’m introducing this brand: Goyard is very special. I’m conjecturing that Ashley, with her strong involvement in fashion, knows why these bags are such a hidden secret. (more…)

Everybody is talking about Proenza Schouler. Even though the “it” bag craze has died down, there are still designers that are churning out handbags that are must have’s. The newest addition to this group is Proenza Schouler bags. Celebrities have been flocking to this line and sporting the coveted Proenza Schouler PS1 around town (Mary Kate Olsen and Leighton Meester are two fans). Is the craze really worth it? We believe so. While the suede bags from Proenza Schouler are great, the idea of a suede bag scares most people off. Suede is undoubtably hard to keep clean and shows wear very easily.

Proenza Schouler PS1 Leather Pochette

This is why we would opt for a bright color in leather, just like the Proenza Schouler PS1 Leather Pochette which is done in vibrant chartreuse. Lime green can be a scary color to wear, but it is brilliant to add the perfect pop of color to an accessory rather than an entire outfit. This bag will stand out with a little black dress or look perfectly chic with jeans and a tee shirt. The PS1 Pochette adds a cool dimension with the strap detailing, which is what this line has become known for. There is a fold over flap with a lock and strap fastening as well as compartments at the front, a zipped compartment at the back, and an inside zipped compartment. Buy through Net A Porter for $895.
