When I spoke to Net-a-Porter fashion director Holli Rodgers a few weeks ago regarding Pre-Fall and Fall 2013’s big accessories trends, she expressed a bit of a reticence toward animal prints, and leopard in particular. …
Ladies (and gentleman too, but this only applies to the most fabulous among your ranks), I’m here to talk to you today about an issue that’s plaguing the closets of all too many women: clutch …
As the popularity of miniature crossbody bags has grown to eat up a larger and larger portion of the contemporary clutch market, we’ve seen a bit fewer of Lauren Merkin’s signature handheld bags gracing the pages of online luxury retailers. Her simple, straightforward Louise and Eve clutches have given way to a plethora of of-the-moment minibags by Marc by Marc Jacobs and Rebecca Minkoff, among many others, who are now getting much of the $600-or-less evening bag money.
But now Merkin seems to be prepared to do battle on the turf that was once firmly hers, releasing the Lauren Merkin Riley Speckled Leather Crossbody in both grey and black. It’s not a bad bag, and I hope it’s not the last of Merkin’s crossbody efforts. (more…)

I really could have used a bag like this Lauren Merkin Paige Croc-Embossed Duffel Bag when I was traveling over the weekend. (more…)
Not too long ago, I wrote a post about how much I don’t like colored python bags. I was really certain that that’s how I felt, and I didn’t think twice about it. Well, because that’s just how I am, I seem to have managed to prove myself wrong. I really, really like the Lauren Merkin Tess Painted Minibag.
I’ve seen other multicolored python bags that I liked since then as well – it was like as soon as I put that sentiment out into the world, the universe set its sights on proving that I’m an idiot. Normally, I would feel a little weird about that, but if it means that I keep seeing cute bags then I wouldn’t change things for the world. (more…)
Each time I see designer name, Lauren Merkin, I think – clutches. I have become so accustom to checking out Lauren Merkin clutches that I almost forget that she designs other handbags too. So, each time I come across something other than a clutch of hers, I am pretty pleased. I’ve been a fan of her clutches for quite some time now, so by default I expect something great from her other bags as well. Luckily, she rarely disappoints me. (more…)
