What first attracted my attention was the painted finish. It’s just distressed enough without being obvious or fake-looking, and the underneath color is close enough to the paint color that it actually achieves the look they’re trying to get at. This is an exceptionally difficult line to walk that I’m kind of impressed anyone was able to get it right, let alone a brand I usually misses the mark. I also like the detailing of the bag – the pleating and pintucking at the sides are just enough to give the bag some visual interest without competing with the painted finish. I have one question, though – what do you guys think the odds are that the paint is going to fade and wear over time? That would be my first area of concern, and if anyone has had a bag with a painted finish in the past, please let us know how it wore in the comments. Buy through Shop Bop for $981.
I am always intrigued by designers I don’t know much about. Last week I wrote about the Giorgio Brato Distressed Leather Bag. When I don’t know much about certain designers, I love to read the comments the post receives on the blog and on the Purse Forum. Granted, I always love reading the comments about each post, but when just being turned onto a new designer I am always eager to see if anyone else knows something more about the designer, the design or the line.
When I saw the Giorgio Brato Asymmetrical Pleated Bag I instantly wanted to touch my computer in hopes of actually feeling the leather. I without a doubt must get my hands on a Giorgio Brato handbag one of these days. Tell me if you disagree, but this leather looks not only 100% touchable but also down right gorgeous. Although some of you were less than impressed by the Distressed Leather Bag, do you find yourself liking this one a bit more? The pleating demonstrates the craftmanship and attention to detail put into the handbag. Pleating this kind of leather can look rushed if not done correctly, but I have no complaints with what I see. Double rolled handles, zippers inside and out prove that the bag doesn’t just look good, but is also functional. Buy though Shop Bop for $1,070.
There is something comforting about distressed leather. I don’t know if it is the fact distressed leather can look so no-nonsense or hassle free, but I like it. The Giorgio Brato Distressed Leather Bag is one that demonstrates how amazing distressed leather can look if it is worked with diligently. If a designer isn’t careful, distressed leather can look used as opposed to giving off a vintage or well worn feel. Giorgio Brato is a designer who pays close attention to this which is clearly visible through this handbag. One of the greatest things about this bag is its versatility. There are so many looks you can get when carrying this bag while always remaining fashionable. Double rolled handles add an extra sense of ruggedness to the feel of the bag. Since there is ample room to store whatever you might need, this bag is perfect fit for day to day use. However, I would have to say, I am still simply thrilled by the look of the leather; it is gorgeous. In fact, I can think of countless celebs, no matter what their typical look may be, who would sport a bag like this. Add some comfort to your look through Shop Bop for $1,025.
