Nancy Gonzalez Flat Clutch

I’ve seen a lot of clutches lately with this new-fangled (old-fangled? Seems like it might be a vintage throwback) cut-out handle, and I’m not sure I support the idea. It looks cute, naturally, but I’m an under-the-armpit clutch carrier, not an in-my-hand one, and clutches with the cut-outs might present a problem for me. They tend to be a bit taller, and I’m not sure that my armpit can handle that. Take the Nancy Gonzalez Flat Clutch, for example. Surely, it’s beautiful. The color is, somehow, both silver and gold, which makes it both unexpected and neutral (and how often are neutrals unexpected?). It’s also quite roomy, and I could probably fit my keys in it, something that a lot of clutches don’t accomplish. It’s also crocodile so, you know, points for that. Logistically, however, I think that this clutch carries its load too low to work for us armpit enthusiasts, although those of you out there that prefer the hand-held method surely could not find a better day-to-night bag than this beauty. Buy through Saks for $2500.

Last week, on Luxaholics, we talked about getting Lauren Conrad’s Chanel Caviar Jumbo Flap look for less. While we found several amazing handbags that offered a similar look for a smaller price, it got me thinking. Are there certain looks out there where you would rather save your money for the real thing than get a different bag with a similar look but for less? Now, just yesterday I talked about the Bottega Veneta Vibio Large Clutch and the notion of handbags being an investment. Personally, I feel as though everyone has a weakness, be it handbags, techie gadgets, clothing, etc, and with this comes the balance between what you want and what you can afford. So with these weaknesses, pinch pennies or get the look for less?

When it comes to handbags, exotics are everywhere! In all reality, they have been for quite some time now and I don’t see this trend vanishing anytime soon. Everywhere you look, something exotic can be spotted. If you are an avid reader of Purse Blog, you’ve seen some of the wonderful exotics we mentioned which came with a hefty price tag, cough Salvatore Ferragamo Oversized Carlotta Alligator Tote cough or perhaps the Hermes Kelly Long Wallet. Sure, we don’t all have thousands of dollars to drop whenever we want to expand our handbag collection, but when going exotic, is getting the look for less worth it? There are several exotics out there I have my eye on, but especially with the party infused holiday season quickly approaching, I am thinking about picking up a “look for less” in order to tie me over. Nuti Ostrich Frame Clutch

So this handbag has it all for me. Exotic skin, grey color, and a clutch. Right there are three things that I absolutely adore in a handbag, and this baby has it all! We have covered bags by Nuti before, and really, from quite some time back I have been a fan. And now we have this beautiful little number, the Nuti Ostrich Frame Clutch, which is sleek and stunning. The clutch features paneled ostrich and is finished up with a modern silver clasp and snap closure. There is orange satin lining and measurements are 9″W X 6″H X 1½”D. I almost feel like there is no explanation necessary, I mean really, could this have my name all over it more or what? The only little Debbie Downer, the price is a big high for a clutch. But these days, prices on bags are astronomical, so it should not come as a huge shocker. Buy through Saks for $1,595.
