Bottega Veneta Crocodile Box Clutch, $3450 via Matches UK.

I’ve never been the type to swoon, but if ever I needed a fainting couch, now is the time.

The affinity that Megs and I have for Bottega Veneta exotics is well-documented, and finding this Bottega Veneta Crocodile Knot Box Clutch in a perfect shade of pinky-orangey coral just took me to the next level. I don’t have the social schedule or the financial means to take this little box bag to all of the summertime garden parties that it deserves to see, but maybe someone out there does and could allow me to live vicariously. Spring 2011 is all about orange, and if you don’t like orange, well…that sucks for you, I guess. But keep an open mind! Pinkish, coral-y collars like that of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Natasha Crossbody will pull you in with their considerable charms in no time, if only you’ll give them the opportunity. (more…)

Here at PurseBlog, we are generally of the opinion that trends should be secondary to wearing things that you love and that makes you feel wonderful, no matter what the fashion industry wants you to wear, but since we’re a fashion blog, we sort of have to cover them. And although I may not be a big lover of orange for a variety of reasons, it’s going to be difficult to avoid the hue in a couple months’ time.

Once I saw the Yves Saint Laurent Roady Hobo in what the brand calls “flame,” I knew that there was no escaping the onslaught of orange. My sales associate at Jeffrey told me that they had ordered a lot of orange and coral for spring, and since the boutique’s owner Jeffrey Kalinsky is also an executive vice president at Nordstrom, it’s safe to say that orange will be showing up there as well, not to mention in every other department store in existence. Brights had a moment on the Spring 2011 runways in what seemed like a direct response to Fall 2010’s neutral palette, and fiery shades in particular look to be among the biggest winners of the season. I don’t even like coral. Not the crusty sea structures – I’m sure those are perfectly lovely – but the color, most often associated with bad lipstick choices and tropically located retirees. Anything in the peach and orange family tends to make me run and hide because of my skin tone, but for the right accessory, I can deal with almost anything. Luckily, the Lanvin Pillow Shopper is exactly the right accessory.

A good bag or piece of clothing can make even an odd color choice seem brilliant, and the ubersoft lambskin for which Lanvin is so well known takes this bag to the next level. My only regret is that I can’t reach through the screen to touch it – I hope someone at Apple is working on that, Steve Jobs. Make sure to notify me when there’s an app for that. (more…)

A bag like this makes me love Botkier more and more. It shouldn’t shock you that the color absolutely jumped out at me when I saw this bag. The coral lambskin is a color that I simply cannot get enough of. I fell in love with this color big time this fall and that love has just continued to grow. In fact, I have a different Botkier bag in a similar color and this bag gets probably the most complements on its color than just about any other bag in my collection. But, there is more to this bag than just the color. (more…)
