#PurseBlogWIMB: This Reader’s Collection of Stunning Bags Wowed Us All

Hermès, LV, and Gucci for the Wynne!

Somehow here we are already, in the last month of summer. I know, I know: summer isn’t technically over until the end of September, but the way I’ve always seen it, August is it. You guys have been quite the little social media mavens this summer, tagging us in your posts, showing off your best bags and most importantly, letting us know what you keep in your bag!

This month, reader Wynne caught our attention with her stunning bag spills. We decided to do a bit more investigating and were truly in awe of her collection of beautiful bags, wallets and more! We couldn’t wait to chat up Wynne to learn more.

PB: Why do you love handbags?
Wynne: I’ve been obsessed with handbags for as long as I can remember! It’s the one piece that can tell a story about a person. It’s especially noticeable if the handbag is not only a highly coveted one, but well-worn, used and obviously, loved. How did they come across this bag? Was it passed down from someone special? Why was it chosen? And more than clothes and impeccable appearance, the handbag can singularly punctuate a person’s air of confidence! Looking more closely at the bag itself, I love the tactile feel, details, and, oh, the smell.

PB: What are 5 items you always have in your bag?
W: One: My Louis Vuitton agenda. An office must-have to organize my crazy hectic life!
Two: A cardholder (rotate between LV, Chanel and YSL). This is the most practical, on-the-go accessory, convenient for quick errands or just to grab a Starbucks.
Three: The LV key pouch. For LV lovers, this is by far the best starter piece. I use it to store my coins and keys, but I swear it can probably hold up to 10 cards or more!
Four: Lip products – lipsticks and lip balms. I always have several on hand. As a lippy addict, I need options at all times! My current favs are the Givenchy lip balm and Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pussycat.
Five: Sunglasses. A no-brainer accessory for an LA girl, a must!

PB: What was your first designer bag, and how old were you when you got it? Why did you
want that bag?
W: The Louis Vuitton Petit Noé in black Epi leather. At 23 years old and landing my first job after college, I was determined to save up for my first designer handbag. I knew I wanted an LV bag from the moment I saw another girl with an LV wallet around my college campus. So jealous! I selected the Petit Noé because it’s such a classic, with all the signature elements of the brand. And, I loved its history–it was originally designed to hold champagne bottles.

PurseBlog: If you had to carry one bag for the rest of your life, what would it be?
W: It’s difficult to narrow it to ONE because I lead two very different lives. On weekdays, in the corporate world, I need a bigger tote for all my work essentials. For this, I carry my
Hermes Birkin. Beyond practical use, it symbolizes my professional accomplishments (especially considering its standing among many enthusiasts as the Holy Grail bag). On weekends, however, as a mama with my two girls in tow, the last thing I want to do is carry a gigantic bag. Try chasing a four-year-old with ice cream dripping down her hands with a Birkin anchored to your arm–might as well balance a three-tiered birthday cake, too, while you’re at it. When I need to be hands-free, a crossbody bag fits the bill. My favorite? The Louis Vuitton Pochette Métis.

PB: What is the next bag you plan to get and why?
W: My handbag tastes have evolved over the years. I’ve been scaling down my collection with fewer trendy ‘it’ bags to add more investment pieces that are considered classic and timeless. At the moment, the two bags on my wishlist are the Hermes Kelly 28 and the Chanel mini rectangular flap, both in black with gold hardware.

PB: Is the inside of your bag typically neat and tidy or a mess?
W: It depends on the bag and day of week. For some, I use bag organizers. For my totes,
however, it’s a free-for-all! Overall, I’m usually neurotic about my bags staying neat, but when you’re a busy mom, sometimes life just happens.
