The Marc by Marc Jacobs Clearly Crossbody has had me intrigued ever since it appeared on the MbMJ Spring 2013 runway. This is far from the first high-end clear bag to hit stores, but many of the others were novelty items meant for a relatively small number of consumers. On the other hand, Nordstrom is carrying this bag in two colors, both online and in stores, and it’s at a price point that lends itself to a far larger consumer base than, say, a clear Chanel Classic Flap. (It’s less than $250, folks.)

The bag looked adorable on the runway, of course, because it was filled with coordinating MbMJ wallets, keychains and other small accessories, all of which were unmarred by use. I’m looking at my own keychain right now, and although my Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler and Coach keychains were all once pretty nice looking, they’re all a tad worse for wear at this point. I’m also not sure I necessarily want people to see my coming-apart-at-the-seams sunglasses case or my wallet, which is covered with color-transfer from bags with dark linings. (Buying a light wallet was probably a functional miscalculation on my part, admittedly.) A bag like this one would be a pretty good reason to pick up some new small accessories to go in it, though. (For the brand, that might be part of the point.)

So what say you, PurseBlog readers? Do you want a window on your handbag world? You can pick up this bag in red or black for $228 via Nordstrom.

I’m a sucker for cute little pockets so this one grabs my attention right away. There’s a larger version for $348 that has an extra space in the back; in other words those cute pockets becomes a divider. Since the back is solid, this creates a private space for all one’s truly beat up/personal items lol. I’m definitely keeping my eye on that one.

I think the idea great for the younger crowd, the 20 somethings, the perfect quirky bag and a great price point.

I’m hoping you can help me. I have a vintage Channel handbag which has four large embossed rings attaching the handle to the bag. I need to replace one of the rings … any thoughts on where I might find this? Alternatively, any thoughts on where I can buy four new rings? Thanks

    • If it’s an authentic Chanel bag you can bring it to a Chanel boutique and they will replace them for you. Not sure how much changing the grommets will cost, but they’ll take a vintage bag even without a receipt or authenticity card. Hope this helps you!

  • i think it’s fun! you can store things in pouches or cases with prints and it would look awesome!

I thought I saw a top handle satchel version of this and it looked fantastic and I almost bought it. It was the first Marc by Marc to really entice me, very ladylike

I love this bag! I bought it a few months ago and have worn it out. I’m in my 30’s and it works well with almost everything. The price is fantastic and it has hidden compartments and you can essentially show what you want to show. Great purchase!

I purchased this bag in black and white about a month ago, and I love it! Yes, I do believe it’s a bit overpriced seeing as it isn’t full leather but it’s very cute. There’s some down sides it though. The pvc get scratched and it gets smudgy (<– is that a word?). I love it though! I'm super happy with it.
