Here’s What’s Trending On the Resale Market Right Now

If you're looking to sell a bag this spring, we've got you covered

As of last week it’s officially spring and now is the time of year (pandemic or no pandemic) where many seek a fresh start. Spring is a rebirth of sorts and so it’s not surprising that this is also the time of year that cleaning out our closets is not only common, but also encouraged. Additionally, this year a good spring cleaning is especially relevant as many re-evaluate what items in their closet truly matter to them and which they could do without.

2020 was on track to be the year of resale, with popular sites like Vestiaire Collective, Fashionphile, Rebag and the RealReal becoming more top of mind for both socially and economically conscious consumers alike. Lyst even reported a 255% increase in traffic to luxury resale products in 2019. And despite the uncertainty of the market right now, resale is still trending and today we’re taking a look at the most popular items on the resale market, as reported by data from Vestiaire Collective.

In terms of resale value, the findings are not all that surprising, and the bags that are most likely to exceed their retail price are the Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette in Denim Patchwork, the Louis Vuitton Monogram Giant Bumbag and Chanel’s New 19 Bag. A more surprising finding is that a contemporary item also made the ‘it-list’, with By Far’s Rachel Bag exceeding its retail price by 25%.

Conversely, on the vintage side, you’re in luck if you’ve got a Louis Vuitton Multicolore item, or a Gucci Blondie Bag in your closet. Searches for both items increased exponentially by 2300% and 207% month over month. Other notable search increases include the Dior Diorama and Saint Laurent’s College Bag.

Are you thinking of doing a clean out this spring?
