First Look: All the Bags from Hermès Men’s Fall 2022

I’m not a huge fan of Twitter: I am usually there for the schadenfreude of outrage, faux outrage, and the occasional bad joke. But as I was on there last week, I noticed that the Hermès Twitter page gave the option of clicking on a post to receive a notification when the men’s Ready-to-Wear show was about to start, so I gave it a click. This morning, during my second cup of morning coffee and armchair malice, I got the notification, and…well, to be honest, I didn’t have many expectations for what I assumed would be a somewhat boring but pleasant show. That notion quickly flew out the window.

Ten seconds in I was drooling.

Five minutes in, I ignored the dogs barking at the door. Or at the phone. Or at me.

This quick article is my first impression only, and my terribly poor screenshots which I have edited to make some details visible.

To be brief: I LOVED all of the men’s looks. Jackets, coats, sweaters, details, everything. One jacket, in particular, was so good, I already texted my SA: “I don’t want to know what THIS jacket is going to cost.” The designs were attractive, eye-catching, and most of all, wearable. I could see my Ralph Lauren/Brook Brothers husband wearing many of the slim leather jackets and detailed (but not too detailed) sweaters. There was somewhat of a 70s vibe going on here but in a good way. I think the best way to put it is that the styles seemed to enhance the men wearing them, almost as an expression of their personal energy.

Of course, this is meant to be an article highlighting the bags of the show. The first bag down the runway – I do believe I shouted when I saw this – was a phenomenal new version of the Haut À Courroies. It’s huge, it’s been modified, and it’s just soooo cool. I am personally not a fan of this season’s patchwork-style bags, with different-colored straps and zipped half-sections on the front, but this seems to be a more elegant, more muscle version of this and the Birkin Cargo: a solid HAC with chunky, useful, and aesthetically pleasing details, including a Chaîne d’Ancre, Snap Pocket (I’ll assume a Clou de Selle closure) and Zipper:

And of course one of my personal favorites, the Kelly Dépêches Pouch 25 made a brief appearance:

I noticed two bags worn crossbody on the men. One seemed to be a plain pouch:

I was able to find out that this pouch is actually a new phone case:

The other bag, which appeared several times in a few different colors, appears to be a crossbody version of the Goodlock:

Lastly, Hermès also sent out a super-large and luxurious version of the Plume bag.

To be honest, I’m looking forward to the new HAC and I can’t wait to see the inside of the Goodlock. With a bit of luck, we will hopefully see some fun colors for the Kelly Dépêches Pouch, too!
