I Want to Carry this Gucci Mini Bag All Summer Long—and It’s Under $1000!

Calling all '90s babies...

The mystical, magical world that Alessandro Michele has created at Gucci continues to be one of the most talked about in the fashion world and not without merit. Michele has a unique knack for infusing archival inspiration into his collections, but in a fresh, modern way. Few designers are as skilled at this as Michele, who has undoubtedly led the pack when it comes to archival revivals. Gucci under Michele’s direction has such an unmistakable presence that bag lovers can spot a Gucci item from a mile away. And long before the brand’s current hit revival, the Horsebit 1955, there was the vintage-inspired Ophidia line, which launched back in 2017 to much fanfare.

The Ophidia line eventually expanded to include few different shapes and silhouettes, and unlike some of the brand’s pricier leather offerings or the upscale Dionysus line, the Ophidia offered entry-level options that were spot-on and coveted by a wide range of people. Everything about the Ophidia line allowed it to succeed. It perfectly encapsulated the brand’s visual identity and included several different types of silhouettes. Now, 4 years after its release the Ophidia line is still going strong and I’m obsessed with the cutest new addition to the world of Ophidia.

Crafted from the House’s iconic GG Supreme monogram canvas with the classic red and green Gucci web acting as an accent, the Ophidia GG Mini bag is a statement maker all wrapped up in the perfect tiny package. The bag’s half-moon silhouette oozes a vintage appeal and is reminiscent of ’90s era crescent shaped bags. This mini bag is an ode to the past in both its shape and its classic print and yet it feels modern just the same, something that Michele is so skilled at. This bag features leather trim details and a small interior (7.9″W x 5.9″H x 2″D) which is to be expected, but I simply adore it. I’d tuck this mini under my arm all summer long. Purchase via Gucci for $920.
