Don’t get me wrong, I love modernity. Sharp lines, futuristic fabrics, all of that stuff. But right now, as I sit here and gaze upon the lovely, wearable clothes of Tory Burch Spring 2012 from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York, I think I would be happy living only in Burch’s 1920s-by-way-of-the-1960s universe for the foreseeable future. I’ll take one of…everything. Bring it all. Back the truck up directly to my apartment.

Burch’s greatest asset is her nose for what women want to wear in their everyday lives, and somehow she’s managed again to make clothes that appeal to an improbably wide swath of female consumers. I know plenty of people in their 20s who love Tory’s clothes, and the same goes for people of my parents’ generation. When mothers and daughters can both go into the same brand boutique and find things that they love and are proud to wear, you know a designer is really on to something. With Spring 2012 and all of the intricate details and mix-and-match patterns amazing accessories that accompany it, I dare you to prove me wrong.

I like the skirt in #64.

I loved Tory Burch and I actually like the fringed shoes! Not the platform version but the flat fringed ones are cute in a preppy, golfish, spring sort of way. Tory actually makes them look cute with skirts.

The clothes are OK, but that black and white photo is to die for! Vlad’s work, I assume? Excellent capture/post processing.

Yuck to the bag and the shoes!

I absolutely love that yellow shirt!

I always loved Tory Burch’s designs, however, she stole my heart officially when I found out she too loves Mos Def!

I’m not feeling the fringed tote or the golf-ish loafers, but everything else is fantastic. I’m really glad to see that she’s continuing to grow as a designer and release innovative new designs, instead of just rehashing the same stuff from prior seasons.

I normally like Tory Burch, but for Spring 2012 she totally misses the mark. This collection is like a bad/cheap knock off Prada or Marni. I appreciate that Tory is trying to be unique, but it looks too much Italian fashion two seasons ago…
