Back in May we gave you guys a first glimpse of Chanel‘s Cruise 2019 collection. Unsurprisingly, as we so often see from Karl Lagerfeld this collection took its nautical theme to the next level, featuring a whole lot of rope detailing, and even novelty bags resembling life rafts. In true nautical form this collection features bags in tones of ivory, navy, red and black.
The most notable bag, as we also covered back when it first debuted on the runway, is the newest version of the, now-iconic, Chanel Boy Bag. The details of the bag are the same ones that Chanel fans have come to know and love—a chunky chain strap, piped borders, and a quilted body. The biggest difference here is the proportions. Rather than being wider than it is tall, it’s taller than it is wide. Versions of this bag and the rest of the Cruise 2019 Collection are below for your viewing pleasure! Last month they dropped in boutiques too, so you can snag whatever it is your little heart may desire.

Never been much of a Chanel fan but I really like the flap bags with woven straps! Makes it look much more sporty and casual. And no one does the rainbow gradient better, IMO.

The quality looks to be all over the place. The Boy bags look well made, but some of the others look slapped together. That white rope is scary. I can’t imagine what it will look like after a few weeks of daily wearing. Also, other than those cute round bags, they all seem to look the same as past seasons, only more expensive.

Love the Gabrielle Hobos in the ombre snake! Alas, not like I could afford them anyway! Boohoo!
I wouldn’t say no to one of those ombre bags, if given one. ? The boy bags that are verticle rectangles are cool! I even like the pastel colors. There are many different bags for everyone. But, I do think their prices are strataspherical, thus out of reach for most everyone! I will trust those who have recently purchased a new bag, regarding the decrease in quality! Such a very unfortunate corporate decision, that could cost them dearly. Did they think customers wouldn’t notice?

Hey Chanel, how about putting out less bags and focusing on quality?

I haven’t been intrigued by Chanel in a long time. I’m not into the themes. However, I do live all of the tweed bags. Number 94 is definitely my favorite.
The lifesaver bags look cheap. I need to see those in person.
Too expensive and not providing repair services when the bag is over 5 years old is not Luxury. Not worth it unless one is into the “Throw Away” culture.

You will not likely see any of these exotics since Chanel announced that they will no longer carry them.
For a house that could put the most seasonal pieces compared to others, the no exotic policy is just marketing gimmick. Surely top end brands would not find it difficult looking for outsourced top quality leather factories that are more than happy complying to their policy. How far would they go to beat Hermes who still hold the no.1 spot of luxury branded bag especially in the exotics department? Go figure..
Thanks for the info. I just looked it up and they claim they struggle to find an ethical source that meets their quality standard. TRANSLATION: we make a hell of a lot more profit on the fabric bags.
EEK most of these look like bags from TJMaxx in the teeny bopper department. Kate Spade blows them out of the water for a tenth or less of the price. Hard Pass.
