Throwback Thursday: Celebs and Their Gucci Bamboo Bags

With the return of an icon, let's look back at Bamboo bags of the past...

If you’re a handbag lover (and a loyal PB reader) then you already know that one of the most anticipated revivals of the year is finally here. That’s right, Gucci just brought back its classic Diana Bag and it is already seemingly everywhere. One of the most iconic elements of the Diana Bag remains to be the shape’s storied bamboo handles. Did you know that bamboo has been used by Gucci for decades, dating back to the late 1940s?

Bamboo has appeared on Gucci bags both as novelty details like turncocks and the emblematic bamboo handles that are an iconic brand signifier. The brand’s bamboo handles are so interesting and distinct that it’s no wonder they’ve been a beloved choice for handbag lovers for decades. Though the Diana Bag is one of the brand’s more iconic bamboo styles, after that (and before the current revival) there were other silhouettes from the brand that included this iconic detail. Gucci’s Bamboo Shopper was an especially beloved shape. Today we’re taking a look back at some of Gucci’s older Bamboo bags and the celebs who love(d) them!
