The Many Bags of Taylor Swift

First, some real talk: Despite the fact that I am a purple-haired, motorcycle-booted, full-grown woman with a fondness for the musical stylings of Killer Mike and UGK, I have, uh, more than a few Taylor Swift songs in my iTunes library. They aren’t there by accident. Something about Swift’s very literal, incredibly over-emotive songs about teenage love and heartbreak finds the confused middle schooler inside of me and pulls her right on up to the surface. Based on how many records Taylor sells, I suspect I’m far from the only unlikely fan she has.

Taylor has also made a fan out of my imaginary boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal in the past, and she’s currently make news for dating a Kennedy scion – not bad for a little fun between albums, eh? Today, Swift is the latest recipient of our The Many Bags of… treatment, not only for her place in pop culture, but also for the age-appropriate style inspiration that she can give to her younger fans. While Taylor has some spendy bags, a lot of what she carries fits in with her attainable everygirl image. Check out Taylor’s bags after the jump.

First and foremost, Taylor has a real affection for the brown handbags from Ralph Lauren’s various lines. This one in particular is the Rugby Ralph Lauren Pony Hair and Leather Saddle Bag, which is no longer available.

Taylor also shops from Lauren’s main line, as evidenced by this Ralph Lauren Calfskin Crossbody Bag, which can be had for $1950 via Ralph Lauren.

To round out the trio of tan Ralph Lauren bags, Swift chose a Lauren Ralph Lauren Larchmont Leather Crossbody. You can get the new version of the Larchmont via Zappos for $228.

Taylor’s tendency toward subtle, neutral bags doesn’t mean she can’t appreciate a bold designer moment like the rest of us. This Fendi Anna Shoulder Bag in bright blue is my favorite purse in her closet. You can get one in brown for $1680 via BlueFly.

Sometimes, though, Taylor embraces her public role as a regular girl through her handbags – this Wonderstruck Patchwork Bag is a freebie with a bottle of perfume. Granted, it’s a freebie with Taylor’s personal fragrance line, but still. You can’t get it anymore, but you can still pick up a bottle of Swift’s Wonderstruck perfume via Macys.

Mostly, though, Taylor just wears nondescript, reasonably priced bags (and clothes) that her fans can covet, like the Rebecca Taylor Phillipa Bag, which retailed for $275 but is now sold out.You can shop the rest of the line via RebeccaTaylor.com

Also fitting that description: the Lauren Merkin Stevie Bag, $375 via Endless.

And don’t forget the Anthropologie Here-There-Everywhere Bag! Shop bags via Anthropologie.

As always, even Taylor’s high-end choices are subdued, like this Gerard Darel Maddalena Shoulder Bag. Shop the style via GerardDarel.com!

Lest we all forget, though, Ms. Swift is a superstar and can definitely turn on the glamour when appropriate. (Say, at the Vanity Fair Oscars party). The glittery little evening bag? A Jimmy Choo Candy Acrylic Clutch, natch. Pick up the very same bag at Net-a-Porter for $595.
