I Just Can’t Get Enough of Reese Witherspoon’s Style

This southern belle’s style is serious fashion goals.

My love and admiration of Reese Witherspoon runs deep. I have been a major fan of Reese’s since she starred as the legendary Elle Woods in Legally Blonde when I was in middle school and have not so secretly idolized her ever since. Reese is a talented actress, producer, author, and entrepreneur…I’m a firm believer that there is nothing Reese can’t accomplish. She has starred and produced in some of my favorite movies and television shows and I’m an avid member of her book club (if you like to read and haven’t checked it out yet, you must look it up immediately!). Reese always looks stylish, put together, and sophisticated while still managing to be relatable, no easy feat for an A-list celebrity. If I could raid anyone’s closet, I would hands down choose Reese’s, no hesitation. She inspires me regularly, not just in fashion but in career and family life as well, she is such a well-rounded gem!

Confession: I’m constantly trying to replicate Reese’s personal style in nearly every outfit I wear. Reese tends to opt for bright colors and floral prints, and she has an epic collection of colorful designer bags and shoes; which makes her wardrobe extreme goals. She also tends to favor pink bags, which is my all-time favorite color, so that is an added bonus when trying to recreate her looks. I very much appreciate that her every day style is easy to emulate, especially since she launched her own fashion brand, Draper James, which she is regularly photographed wearing, making it easy to twin with my favorite celebrity. Of course it cannot go without mention that Reese has one of the best celebrity handbag collections in Hollywood, bringing incredible eye candy to purse lovers worldwide. Reese has a colossal range of designers in her bag collection, so there are many different price points, colors, and styles to catch a glimpse of.

I am super excited for the second season of Big Little Lies to premiere on HBO next month and decided to watch season one again by binging it a few weeks ago to refresh my memory in preparation for the new season. One thing that struck me about it is how Reese’s character, Madeline, dresses very similarly to the starlet’s real life personal style. There is truly outfit inspiration in every scene, which adds another layer of greatness to the show (also it’s just really, really good!). While Madeline may not be the most morally sound character Reese has ever portrayed, she definitely knows how to dress well, faults and all. I am seriously excited to see all of the fashion and drama unfold in season two. You know where you’ll be able to find me on Sunday nights this summer.

I’ve gone on a deep dive of PurseBlog’s Reese archives and am highlighting some of my all-time favorite Reese bags below. I am having serious purse fomo over here, her bags just look so pretty, I want to own them all! Do you have a favorite?

Please, we beg of you. Edit these posts. There’s no punctuation in half of this! “If I could raid anyone’s closet, I would hands down choose Reese’s, no hesitation. She inspires me regularly, not just in fashion but in career and family life as well, she is such a well-rounded gem!”

The enthusiasm here is wonderful. However, you are (we think) hiring writers. I’m a student at UCLA and I know how many journalism students here love fashion. it must be possible to find writers who love the subject; if that’s truly not an option, then perhaps editors/mentors to teach your writers the most basic rules of language? It hurts to read PurseBlog now.

I love Reese and her style. I love PurseBlog. I just don’t want to accept that we can’t also be literate.

Mary

Your response heavily criticized the writer, but I have to point out that your writing style had flaws as well. For instance, you constantly interchanged “we” and “I” which was particularly confusing and distracted from your point. If you want to claim that you attend UCLA your writing skills should be above reproach, which they are not.

Jane J Dough

My mother said the only people who can refer to themselves as “we” are,”the Queen, pregnant ladies and people with worms .”

To be fair, when you post a comment here you can’t go back and edit it. The writer had opportunities to review and polish but didn’t. Plus, the writer is being paid to deliver professional quality work. Commenters aren’t. So errors in a commenter’s post don’t give the article writer a free pass. I’ve been a professional writer for three decades and have noticed a lot of young writers think the first draft is good enough and that proofing is old-fashioned. Schade.

Mary

True, a commenter can’t go back and edit their work; however, they can proof read it prior to posting. Also, if someone claims to be from an elite school they should not make errors that put their writing in question. I’m not giving the writer of this article a “free pass”, but fair is fair.

Smithy

I do not except it either!!

We appreciate all feedback, but there is a big difference between grammatical errors and someone being illiterate. The definition of literate is being able to read and write, so yes, we are also literate. When leaving constructive criticism words should be chosen wisely. That being said, we can always strive to do better and we take comments seriously.

SeeJay

Kaitlin, it appears many PB readers live to critique this forum and possibly are gleeful when they catch mistakes. The writers on this blog have thick skin because there is no way I could tolerate the incessant cattiness and complaining without returning the favor. This isn’t university, in case some readers were incorrectly redirected to PB nor is it Time magazine. Lighten up.

Hi! We have been hiring writers and are always looking for more. If you would like to give it a go, by all means send me an email!

Yes, we make mistakes and it’s totally fine to call them out – it holds us accountable. I think delivery always matters, and I do welcome any comments/criticism so that we can make this site the best it can be for you and for us as well. Thanks! 🙂

Jerri R

I noticed that your writing has been the most polished and grammatically error-free, of all the Purseblog writers. I miss seeing more articles written by you.

Megs Mahoney Dusil

I’m getting back into it! I have been so lucky to have so much time to spend with Vaughn (and Millie) but am eager to get back to more regular posting!

SeeJay

Well said.

Michelle

I love this post! Big Reese Witherspoon fan too and her bags are so amazing!!!

Michelle

I love this post!!! I’m a big fan of Reese too and love her bags!!! Ya’ll’s posts of her bags are some of my favorite! She’s got great variety and isn’t afraid of color.

Sparky

Did her publicist pay for this?

Megs Mahoney Dusil

No, but that would have been nice!

Kaitlin Serio

Nope, this was an opinion post! We understand that not everyone will agree. To each his own! 🙂

Jerri R

Thank God, I thought I was the only one underwhelmed by this article

Wing Hei

the BV cabat costs $ 7,300 and not $2,250!

Kaitlin Serio

Thank you for noticing the mix up, we have amended!

Jerri R

The Soft Lockit is covet-worthy

Whitney

she just looks like any old mom

Kate

Yup. So true. As a mom myself, I don’t find that to be a fatal criticism, but she’s boring, sartorially. That’s all.

memsy

Yikes!

Kate

I live in an affluent area where even during a run to the mail box everyone wants to look reasonably put together and not sloppy but also not flashy, and basically every soccer mom I know dresses like this. Her style is basic, unimaginative and the opposite of aspirational. Not bad, just boring. I wouldn’t criticize it, but I also wouldn’t pay homage to it in a gushing, weirdly laudatory blog post on a public forum. Many of the bags are good, though.

Katrina

I don’t think you have to be fashion forward to be aspirational though. Yes, Reese’s taste is not groundbreaking or all that creative, but she’s always so well put together, well-accessorized, and coordinated. Sometimes, that’s enough to be “aspirational” for some people. You say you live in an affluent area and are surrounded by women who dress like Reese, but that’s definitely not true for a lot of people. So let’s not drag other people whose tastes and concept of “aspirational” are different from ours.

Megs Mahoney Dusil

I kind of like that though. Fashion stars (whether a celeb or influencer etc) typically dress in a way that simply would never work with our day to day lives, but I like how accessible and ‘real’ this looks to me. I guess it speaks to me personally as I am not one who dresses up much. A simple outfit and a great bag is always my go-to look!

Kate

To each his own! I’ve always found her style boring but not unflattering. It’s inoffensive. I do agree that it’s accessible, and that has its appeal to some folks.

SeeJay

Not to mention the readers on this blog are constantly bemoaning there aren’t enough “everyday, regular” people with bags to admire. Everyday people can often times be discovered wearing basic, unimaginative clothing and that’s ok. I like this blog but honestly, the comments on here have become so predictably and unnecessarily heavy with the criticism and expectations of other people. I don’t remember it being so, years ago when I first began reading PB.

Nancy

Ha! Some of the people “liking” this comment are the worst offenders re: being “unnecessarily heavy with the criticism and expectations of other people”. I’ve read their comments which severely criticize and personally attack other commentators, which is awful and unkind. There is no defense they can offer to amend their attacks, but they could do better in the future.

SeeJay

Well maybe if the few people liking my comment have been offenders in the past, they don’t like the behavior now. It’s called free will….

Nancy

It’s not in the past! They are still doing it…call it free will, but I call it hypocritical!

SeeJay

Alright.

Smithy

Agreed. So unnecessarily aggressive at times and overly critical.

Rosa Lily

Love her in Big Little Lies and yes, her style in the show is very similar to her everyday style. LV Lockit might just be the everyday work bag that I need.

Divadeluxnyc

Meh, I find her style kinda frumpy

Smithy

Agreed. For me, she has always dressed like an aging sorority girl.

Candee

I’ve always admired her bags because they are so great, but her apparel is boring and unimaginative.

Passerine

What happened to all those Ferragamo Fiamma bags she was carrying everywhere for a while? Why not even one photo of thise?

butterbox

Kindergarten school teacher outfits. Okay.
