Go Behind the Scenes at Mansur Gavriel’s Italian Factory to See the Making of the Sun Bag

The Mansur Gavriel Sun Bag takes 12 hours to construct, start to finish

For how much luxury brands love to talk about quality, workmanship and the legions of highly skilled artisans they employ, most of them keep their manufacturing processes and factory employees as hidden from the public narrative of their brand as possible. Newer brand are perhaps less beholden to these old narratives around fantasy and reality, which is a good thing: it’s important for those paying a premium for a consumer product to feel confident they’re getting their money’s worth, and young companies don’t have the smoke-and-mirrors of heritage to fall back on for that purpose. The best way to counter that is simply to show us what’s up.

Now, Mansur Gavriel has done exactly that with a photo tour of its Italian factory and a close look at the making of one of its biggest hits, the Mansur Gavriel Sun Bag. The bag takes 12 hours to complete, beginning to end, and is constructed out of 22 individual parts. Check out how it’s made below, in addition to some other photos of the Mansur Gavriel process.
