Summer Beauty Staples: The Products You Need This Summer

Perfect for hot and humid summer days...

It’s hard to believe that the Fourth of July is behind us and we are already mid-way through summer. Admittedly, summer is probably my least favorite season, and that can only be attributed to one thing: humidity. I live on the east coast and the humidity can be too much to handle some days. For that reason, I am consistently switching up my beauty products during the hot summer days.

I have been buying new beauty products like a bandit over the last few months. I’ve been able to leave the house more and see friends and family, so I’ve been upping my beauty routine as a result. Below are some of my favorite products at the moment. I hope you love them as much as I do!

During quarantine I became downright obsessive about perfume. In fact, I have added somewhere around 40 bottles to my fragrance collection in the last year and a half. I have always had a love for fragrance and worn it daily, but my obsession has definitely grown. Delina by Parfums De Marly is currently my favorite in my rotation, and it is perfect for summer. A rosy feminine floral with notes of tangy lychee, rhubarb, vanilla, musk, rose, peony, and more—you will smell divine wearing this. Bonus: it lasts on my skin for upwards of 12 hours.

I love Gucci’s cosmetic cases because not only are they timeless and beautiful, but they are so durable. The outer lining is made of 100% coated canvas but has a sophisticated leather trim. The interior is a polyester, so if you have any cosmetic products leak, your bag should still be safe! I had black waterproof mascara get into the base of my cosmetics pouch from Gucci and I was able to get it out with a baby wipe. I am a huge fan of functionality and durability, which this cosmetics pouch definitely delivers. Highly recommend.

I first learned about this foundation while scrolling through TikTok and I knew I had to try it. It claims to stay all-day and provide you with full coverage while staying matte throughout the entire day. I can personally attest that this foundation does what it claims—I was in awe when I put it on. As I mentioned, I live in a humid climate, so during summer my foundation needs to be lightweight and not become cakey. This feels barely there while still providing full coverage. It wears beautifully, even on a hot day. Highly recommend, it’s definitely worth the TikTok hype it gets.

I wasn’t kidding when I said I had a new obsession with perfume, and the Baccarat Route 540 fragrance is too perfect to leave off of a summer beauty round up of mine. Another TikTok find, I delved into the hype that is going on around Baccarat Rouge. If you’re not on TikTok, this fragrance is highlighted EVERYWHERE, and is highly popular. The notes are jasmine, saffron, cedar wood, and ambergris…this wears as a sophisticated woody marshmallow scent on my skin. It literally lasts upwards of 24 hours on me and even longer if I spray it on clothes, making the price much more digestible. If you don’t want to drop $300 on a fragrance, I’ve heard that Ariana Grande’s “Cloud” fragrance is similar for $40. Perfumer Maison Francis Kurkdijan, the nose behind Baccarat Rouge 540, also creates fragrances for Burberry. Burberry Her is one of his creations and has some similarities as well at a much lower price point. However, if you are going to splurge on a signature scent, try out Baccarat Rouge 540! You won’t regret it.

Would it even be summer if I didn’t mention a sunscreen? I am so particular about sunscreen and sun protection, because I need to wear it everyday. There is nothing I hate more than greasy, goopy sunscreen on my face, and I’m always looking for products that soak right in and wear well under make up. The Clarins SPF 50 is incredible as a base for make up, and I love that it’s 50 coverage versus the 30 I usually find for everyday sunscreens. I’m currently on my second tube of this sunscreen and can see myself even buying a third time.

Dior Addict Lip Glow Balm

$35

Addict lip glow balm from Dior is one of my favorite make up products of all time. I love that it wears somewhere between a balm and a lipstick, making it easy to wear for every day. I love the look of lipstick but hate extra matte and drying lipsticks, but this balm is so comfortable to wear everyday and feels so hydrating. Easy to wipe off during meals but long lasting at the same time, this is my perfect lip product. The shade Rosewood is my go-to, everyday shade, but I also love the Berry shade for special occasions. A staple in my make up bag.

I’m a sucker for anything pearl embellished, and this “everything pouch” from Lele Sadoughi is so adorable. The inside of the bag is advertised as lightly padded, which is perfect for storing cosmetics that may be fragile and breakable. There’s nothing worse than dropping your cosmetics pouch and opening it slowly to check if any powders have cracked…I recently broke a brand new Nars blush, so take it from me, it’s a terrible feeling. This cute bag will protect your items and is large enough to store my daily make up routine products (measuring at 9.5in W X 4.75in H X 6.75in L).
