PurseBlog Beauty: Amanda Loves the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads

I’ve always had dry skin, even as a teenager, and it’s only getting drier as I get older. When you combine that with a particularly long and brutal winter this year, my normal skincare regimen simply wasn’t making a dent in my forehead flakies. While complaining about my forehead on Twitter (as one does), Julia Rubin from Racked told me about a product that she swore would help, and thankfully, she was right. I love you, Dr. Gross.

These little pads are a two-step treatment meant to smooth skin, shrink pores and fine lines, reduce redness and generally make you glow like the goddess you are. You wash your face, swipe on the first one, wait a couple minutes and then swipe on the second one. Wait a couple more minutes and you’re ready for moisturizer. My skin felt immediately and noticeably smoother and softer, and it looked brighter. And that was after only one use.

These pads instruct you to use them every day, but personally, a couple times a week after I get home from work is enough for me. My skin is fairly sensitive, and I’ve had no irritation from them at all; if you’re a hardier sort or need to peel off more than average, the pads also come in an Extra Strength variety. Personally, I’d start with the regular ones and work your way up once you see how you react. Although I don’t have oily skin, I can’t imagine they’d be bad for it–they provide a great exfoliation without being drying.

You can get packs of these double pads starting at $16 for 5 via Sephora. (I went with the 35 for $88, though, and I’m glad I did.)
