I snapped up everything from running shoes to shower oil, even though I didn’t anticipate any shopping at all
I’ve bought a lot of stuff in the last six months. I moved into my first New York apartment of my very own in August, and although I was lucky to already own much of the basic furniture I needed in order to live comfortably, I still ended up buying plenty since then: a kitchen table and island, a big bookcase, chairs of several varieties, a rug. And then, of course, there was the couple hundred bucks in food and booze for the housewarming, plus stocking the pantry with dry goods and cleaning supplies. You get the idea: I’ve had an expensive year and have pretty much everything I need, so I wasn’t planning to do much Thanksgiving weekend shopping. The key word there, though, is planning.
I made it all the way to Cyber Monday before I broke the seal and picked up two pairs of sneakers (and some leggings and a hoodie…) to take advantage of an extra 25% off sale prices at Nike. (That deal runs through tonight, so if you need some new gear, it’s well worth checking out.) Then, the 30% off at ASOS got the better of me, so I ordered a jean jacket and a couple other odds and ends that, truthfully, I don’t even remember now. Next, after a recommendation on Twitter, I was on to L’Occitane to buy some of its beloved almond shower oil at 20% off (which is also still going!), and then also some body cream in order to hit the company’s minimum for free shipping. Finally, at the end of the night, I remembered I threw out my old snow boots at the end of last winter and that getting a good pair at a discount is impossible once it actually hits snow season, and I was able to snag some new Sorels for $50 off at Urban Outfitters. At that point, my computer started emitting smoke, so I went to bed.
We know that plenty of you guys did some serious shopping in the past week, so we’re curious: what did you get? Any handbags? Where’d you find the best deals?
