Dolce & Gabbana Jumps on the Tiny-Bag-on-Bag Bandwagon

With the unmitigated success of the teeny-tiny Fendi Micro Peekaboo Bag, it was only a matter of time before other brands started giving their loyal shoppers the option of adorning their new handbags with a newer, smaller handbag. As far as we’ve seen, Dolce & Gabbana is the first brand out of the gates to embrace this trend, and it’s doing it with tiny Sicily bags.

Fendi isn’t the first brand to miniaturize its signature bag shapes into charms (as far as I know, Balenciaga beat them to it in the late 2000s but has since discontinued those pieces), but the brand’s versions have been the most eye-catching. Part of that is because the $1,550 price tag for the Micro Peekaboo got people talking, but part of it is because, theoretically, it can be carried as its own bag. (Although it won’t fit much, as we recently demonstrated.)

The Sicily charms are smaller (although Net-a-Porter doesn’t have dimensions yet), and they’re not marketed as bags that can double as charms, but rather as card cases or coin purses that you can attach to your bag. Those goals, the price tag that goes along with them, are slightly more modest.
