Target takes on Proenza Schouler’s PS1

One of the main things I had to get used to after moving to NYC was missing out on my bi-weekly Target shopping trips (and Chick-fil-A, but that is an entirely different story). I grew accustomed to shopping for all of my household needs and then browsing the designer collaborations Target had to offer on every visit. After all, Target has collaborated with many huge designer brands for their Target on the Go! International line. One of these designers is Proenza Schouler, which released a collection with Target in the mid-2000’s. The collection was so sought after that Target just reissued several of the dresses a couple of weeks ago alongside other popular past designer collaborations.

Stella McCartney tries fruit on her Falabella Tote

I thought Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring for us this year. He was wrong and/or the joke is on us. This morning I awoke to snow-covered buildings and tonight the temperature continues to steadily drop. I’m keeping my mind on the tropics in order to stay mentally warm.

Growing up in Florida we had a lemon and lime tree in our yard and these fruits always remind me of bright sunshine-y days. When I first spotted the Stella McCartney Fruit-Print Falabella Tote, my mind went to my childhood backyard and I was happy. But then I took another glance at the bag and wondered who would ever carry it.

Charlotte Olympia gives you four clutch looks in one

I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am that Charlotte Olympia designer Charlotte Dellal has decided to grace the handbag world with her presence. I’ve been singing that praises of Dellal’s sharp, modern, sexy footwear over at TalkShoes for some time now, and her witty sensibility is a welcome addition to the accessories marketplace. The Charlotte Olympia Pandora Plexiglass Clutch, with its three included inserts and confident lines, is a very promising start for this handbag neophyte.

For Fall 2011, it’s all about python

It didn’t take long for python to make itself known as the biggest handbag look of Fall 2011; as trends go, exotic skins aren’t exactly subtle. They’re also not affordable, so if you want to buy into a piece of one of the runway, start saving your pennies now. To help motivate you, we’ve put together a non-comprehensive compendium of some of Fall 2011’s snakeskin looks, all the way from slouchy, comfortable pink Dior to rigid, bright yellow Gucci.

Behold: Chanel Outstanding Pieces Spring 2011

With the online launch of Chanel Spring 2011 comes the advent of Chanel Outstanding Pieces Spring 2011, which is the special moniker that the French brand uses for the most intricate, luxurious and expensive designs from each of its product categories. Encompassing everything from rare exotic leathers to hand embroidery, these bags are the creme de la creme from one of the finest leather goods companies in the world.

Would you like a Chanel Classic Flap completely covered in glittering crystals? It can be yours. What about a baby pink crocodile Mademoiselle bag? That too. Chanel doesn’t publicly release prices for thes pieces, but the old trope probably applies: If you have to ask, you can’t afford it. I know I can’t, but looking? Looking is free.

Alexander Wang offers hand-held industrialism

I’m always a big proponent of the daytime clutch, mostly because I think a lot of women assume that they’re really hard to carry when that’s often not the case. I wouldn’t necessarily take one to the grocery store or on another errand that I know will require me to carry lots of bags or packages, but for a lunch with girlfriends or something similar, a clutch can be a great way to set off an outfit. After a few minutes with one under my arm, I tend to forget that it’s even there.

And that’s not to mention all the wonderful evening uses for a clutch. But what about a bag like the Alexander Wang Ryan Handle Clutch? This is the type of bag that requires the carrier to occupy one of her hands with its presence; the north-south shape and bulky top handle create an interesting look, but they also probably mean that it would be uncomfortable to hold under the arm as one might with more prototypical handleless options.

Embrace Fall 2011’s trends early with Jimmy Choo python

We’ll be doing the requisite rundown of all of Fall 2011’s accessories trends over the next few weeks, but when I saw the Jimmy Choo Saba Python Hobo Bag, I just couldn’t help myself. Mixing textures and python are both very important for this year’s looks, and this bag combines both of them in a very wearable, functional tote.

I’ve felt more positive about Jimmy Choo’s designs for Spring 2011 than I have about the company’s handbags in what seems like quite a while, and this bag in particular is an example of what Choo tends to do right. It has a note of bohemia without being outright hippie-dippy, and the metallic finish on the python adds an extremely luxurious touch. The deep suede trim provides just enough contrast to keep the gunmetal python from looking over-the-top. Balance: It’s a beautiful thing.
