I’m continually surprised by the huge number of Michael Kors bags that I see women carrying in every city that I visit. One of the most recognizable bags from the line is the Michael Kors Hamilton, which has been issued in nearly countless colors, sized and materials. The version above may be the most exciting, though; like other designers, MK is always giving back and after the tragic earthquake in Japan, Michael decided to help.

MK debuted a limited edition Hamilton handbag in support of the Great East Japan Earthquake relief effort during Fashion’s Night out in Tokyo and to follow its success, the U.S. will launch this bag for a 24 hour period starting tomorrow, Monday January 22nd. The bag will be available only through a link from the Michael Kors facebook page and in select Michael Kors retail stores.

The designer will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the bag to support relief efforts for the Great East Japan Earthquake via the Japanese Red Cross Society. While many only give a portion of proceeds to causes, I find it entirely commendable that Michael Kors will give 100%.

The bag is the coveted Hamilton in a deep berry-colored matte embossed python finish. A keychain is attached that will serve as a reminder of those in Japan with a series of MK logo and “Michael Hearts Japan” charms. Hats off to Amanda for holding down the PB fort as Vlad and I partake in a “vacation.” So far on this particular trip, we rarely check our email and keep swatting one another’s hands away when we see the other attempting to slyly work via our iPhones. But today, after a long day in the sun, we both caved and decided it was time to check in with you all. And this is a particularly fun check-in, because I come bearing handbag eye-candy.

Behold, this amazing oversized Salvatore Ferragamo travel tote. A few years ago Ferragamo caught my eye with its Carlotta tote and I was in love. I imagined it being my weekend bag in the back of my super cool imaginary convertible on our way to our imaginary Hamptons home. But I have found a replacement to drain my imaginary bank account filled with copious amounts of imaginary money, and it’s this exotic Salvatore Ferragamo Alligator Travel Tote.

Isn’t this the most divine bag you have ever seen? When we went into the Ferragamo showroom to re-see the Resort 2012 collection, my eyes immediately found this bag and I could not interrupt my gaze. Many who possess a hefty bank account and share our love of designer handbags opt for the Hermes Travel Birkin to be their oversized option, a much more predictable (but similarly luxurious) pick compared to this design.

Ferragamo offers a timeless appeal along with super-luxe materials. In fact, the bottom corners of the bag add hardware that gives a feel of some current Alexander Wang bags, which leaves the overall feel of the design both elegant and hip. Once I have more information on this bag I will be sure to share, though price is not known yet.

One of our Twitter friends is @katespadeny, who we love to follow for a glimpse into the life of Kate Spade New York. Today while Vlad and I were out for our Sunday brunch, I was checking Twitter and saw Kate Spade tweet a photo of a new bag. With one click I found my way to the Kate Spade Pocomo Gwen, a small cowhide bag with a camera embossed image, and I fell for the design and immediately went to the Kate Spade store to buy it.

The bag, named after a quiet beach in Nantucket, is small in size but great for short trips out when you only need the absolute necessities. I love the idea of going on a summer outing and having this little bag slung cross-body. Vlad always travels with his Leica and now, with my new Kate Spade Pocomo Gwen, we can match.

The shoulder strap has a long 23″ drop while the body of the bag is very small, 3.8″ x 5.9″ x 2″. I have been playing with the bag today and found that I can fit my iPhone, keys, lip gloss, cash and credit cards, and some tissues. This is definitely not the bag for every occasion, as it is one of the smallest bags I own, but during the summer I am always taking long walks and this bag will get the job done in a chic fashion. There is not much to add as the pictures of these beautiful items speak for themselves. Clearly, my Weekend Obsession is out-of-this-world in both style and price.

The entire outfit revolves around the stunning Lela Rose Dégradé silk-organza full skirt, which I would like to make my spring, summer, and fall wardrobe staple. In fact, I envision this being the garment to wear to fashion week come September. If you spot anyone else with this skirt on, you know that they not only read our site but also agree with me. The unfortunate thing is the price is just under $5,000. However, if this baby gets marked down it WILL.BE.MINE.

With the skirt I’d like to pair the Balenciaga Croc City in lavender (swoon), a funky and awesome Lanvin Elephant Necklace, and a simple Miu Miu cashmere and silk sweater. Finally, I’d finish the look off with a strappy pair of Christian Louboutin Sandals.

We were the first to showcase the Coach Kristin collection with you in August of 2009. Since then, the Kristin collection has turned into one of the most coveted and acclaimed lines by Coach. Back in October of last year, Vlad and I previewed Coach’s Spring collection, in which the Kristins were well represented.

For Spring 2011 the Coach Kristin Collection takes center stage in their line yet again. Coach still offers their Poppy collection for those that want the glitz and fun, their monogram bags for those that want to sport the brand’s recognized logo, but the Kristin collection fits into its own sleek and refined category that I absolutely appreciate and adore.

    

When I walked into the preview of this collection, I was immediately drawn to the Woven Leather Sage option. Both colors (a light denim and white mist) work perfectly with the design of the bag. I get a very polished feel from this line, which I love to see from Coach. It is the many options that make the Kristin Collection my weekend obsession for this week.

Ahhh, the Bottega Veneta Cabat. We have already gone over the meticulous process the craftsman undergo to create this magnificent handbag. To refresh your memory, the classic Cabat is woven by hand by two craftsman which takes them two days. Then an additional day is needed for finishing touches; like stitching, applying the handles, and finishing the edges. Before this entire creation, the leather itself is treated, prepared, and cut. The result is one of the staples of the house of Bottega Veneta and one of the most simple yet coveted bags.

For Spring 2011, the Bottega Veneta Cigar Cocco Lave Large Cabat will be released. This bag is the ultimate Cabat and my current weekend obsession.

I love the brown/black color on the crocodile skin. It gives the perfect amount of life to the bag, which is already a stand out because of the weaving technique. Before I get into the price with you – I must mention to keep in mind the size of this bag. This is the large size, which is entirely spacious (think weekend getaway size). This bag may be my weekend obsession, but it also is out of my price range. I am entirely jealous of whoever will be buying and using this bag. It will outlast us all. I did it, I finally finally did it!!! You all had to listen to me go back and forth for many months (it feels like years) over which Balenciaga bag I would ultimately buy. I had my mind set on getting a Balenciaga Bag, the decision process came down to the color. Balenciaga is known for their rich and vibrant use of color and BBag lovers wait with bated breath every season to what colors will be released from the house [check out Fall 2010 colors here].

I literally could not choose a color. I was sure anthracite was the best choice, but when I looked my bags I saw how many other gray bags my collection contained. And today while browsing Balenciaga online, the perfect color looked me in the eye and said, “Yo, you realize your bag collection is lacking a gorgeous neutral tan color. Buy me”. For real, the color Seigle spoke to me. My credit card spoke back and next thing I knew I had a confirmation number arriving in my email inbox for my Balenciaga Giant City in Seigle.

The wait is over. The obsession has only just begun. The best way to satisfy a weekend obsession is with a weekend purchase, and that is precisely what I did via Balenciaga for $1,795. Pictures to come soon!

This weekend’s obsession visits the gentleman’s department. At around $170, Hermes’ beautiful silk ties are a (relatively) cheap entry into the world of men’s luxury fashion. The silk is among the finest available and the prints are highly colorful and come in funny and playful patterns.

They make great gifts for husbands or boyfriends for any occasion and are available in Hermes boutiques or online.

I am finally finding myself to be over the stud trend. I liked it, I bought it, I wore it, and now I am over it. But there are still few bags that bring in some stud-like hardware that is not typical of the studded bag rage and perfect to add a metal touch. I have always been attracted to the Hermes Medor Clutch and this weekend it is my latest obsession.

The design itself is inherently simple, with nothing about the size or look of the body of the clutch standing out. But the hardware (I am unsure whether I prefer black or silver on the black box leather), is distinctive, eye-catching, and bold. And it is the hardware that makes anyone looking at this clutch say, ‘Oh, that is Hermes alright‘. There is a small, 23 cm, and large 29 cm, size. The leather is box skin, which is sturdy yet shows scratches more easily than many Hermes leathers. And while the leather version is beautiful, the Spring 2009 collection sent a green exotic skin onto the runway that makes me want to see this bag in a rouge croc before ever settling on leather.
