Want It Wednesday

Want It Wednesday: Beats, J. McLaughlin, Tibi and Ilia

We made it! It’s hump day! Try not to get that GEICO camel’s hump day chant stuck in your head, but now that I’ve said it, that’s totally what’s going to happen, isn’t it? Sorry. All I can offer by the way of an apology is a list of things that those of us around the PurseBlog offices are lusting after this week. It’s Want It Wednesday, after all.

Call me crazy, but I’m already dreaming of fall sweaters. I know we’re in the middle of a heat wave that keeps trying to break, but my mind is set on cozy sweaters and when I laid my eyes on the Tibi Statue of Liberty Intarsia Cotton Sweater, I knew I had to have it. A playful mixture of quirk and luxury, this sweater exudes a feeling of NYC love with Lady Liberty adorning the front. Whether you pair it with skinny jeans or a maxi skirt, this is a sweater I can’t stop wanting. $365 via Net-a-Porter.

It hit me on my way into work today; summer is almost over. I can’t believe tomorrow is August, can you? As much as I love fall, I’m still holding onto summer with all of my might. That is probably one of the reasons I am lusting after these brightly colored Beats Pill Portable Stereos. I would love to throw this into my beach or travel bag as I head out of town for the weekend. But luckily, summer or not, we all could use a portable stereo speaker like this – it’s compact, bright and powerful, plus you can change the music from your phone, laptop or any Bluetooth-enabled device. It’s wireless and can play 7 hours worth of music on a fully charged battery. Not too bad! Plus, as summer fades away, we’ll all be in search of something colorful during the winter months. Available in Neon Blue, Neon Green, Neon Pink, Neon Orange and Neon Yellow for $200 via Microsoft.

With so many weekend trips to be had during the last month of summer, it’s important to travel to your destination in style. I’ve been on the search for a good duffle for what seems like ages, and I finally came across the perfect one – the J.McLaughlin Large Sailcloth Duffle. It’s a great size for a weekend over-packer such as myself, plus the option of both top handles and a long canvas shoulder strap will make it easy to carry. I love the nautical appearance of the bag, which is made with authentic sailcloth, and the best part? You can personalize your bag with your very own monogram. If you’re too scared of the white getting dirty, it’s also available in red. This bag is so much more than something I want, it’s something I need. You can buy it for me, or for yourself for $285 via J.McLaughlin.

In spite of the fact that it’s hot outside, all of the fall bags, shoes and clothes that I’ve seen arrive in stores recently has me doing nothing but planning my wardrobe for the season yet to come. I don’t wear much makeup during the summer, but when the weather turns cooler, I prefer a bolder look, particularly when it comes to my lips. I thought I had found the perfect deep, dark red lipstick for my complexion a couple of years ago – Chanel Rouge Allure in “Fatale.” True reds usually read pink on my skin, so the slight brown undertones of the shade helped combat that tendency perfectly. I was in love, and still am, but as always happens when you find a beauty product you absolutely love, Chanel discontinued the color. I’m halfway through my last tube and have been wondering what to do, but now I know – I’ll pick up a tube of Ilia Lipstick in “Femme Fatale,”, which is as close as I’ve ever seen anyone come to my favorite color. Even the name is close. It was meant to be. $24 via Net-a-Porter.
