Want It Wednesday

Want It Wednesday: Oribe, Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen

You guys, it’s August 14. Halfway through August. How did that happen? It seems like between all the complaining about sweat and sunburns and our inability to find the perfect straw bag, summer has just up and left us. It was 60 degrees this morning! Not that I’m complaining about that last part, of course, but I’m not sure that I’m psychologically prepared for the passing of another season. That being said, our Want It Wednesday picks are the perfect way to get ready for fall.

I do a lot of objectively dumb things to my hair. I bleach big sections of it in order to dye it bright purple, which has to be re-bleached at the root every eight weeks. My hair is naturally quite curly, so I blow it out and then flat iron it at least three times a week, but I’ve been going to the gym a lot lately, so now I do it even more. It’s summer, so my hair has been subjected to plenty of sun and a little bit of salt water in the past few months, too, not to mention a daily onslaught of summer subway sweat, which is an unpleasant reality of living in New York City. Over the years, I’ve assembled a small army of products to help fight off as much of the attendant damage to my hair as possible, and the next one I’d like to pick up is the Oribe Signature Moisture Mask. I went to an Oribe salon for about a year, and all of the company’s products are top-notch (not to mention that they all smell incredible). This masque looks like a big, creamy pot of hair loveliness to me. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $59.

As summer begins to dwindle down, I’ve come to the realization that my bright-colored satchels and straw tote bags will soon go back into the closet for yet another season, and I will need a new bag for fall, stat. As New Yorkers, we are immediately drawn to buying a black bag, because, well, we love black, but here at PurseBlog headquarters, we think it’s way more fun to do color. That’s why this week, I’m lusting over this Marc Jacobs 1984 Satchel in Chianti. It’s a beautiful shade of deep, dark red that will pair perfectly with just about anything. It’s a great size bag that can easily transition from a day at the office to a nice dinner afterward – now if only someone would get it for me. If you’d like to, you can purchase it via Bloomingdales for $1,495.

I think my subconscious is trying to tell me something. If you follow our Want it Wednesday feature, you might remember that I recently picked out a few Alexander McQueen accessories. Well, today, I am doing the same. As I was perusing the accessories selection at farfetch.com, I came across this Alexander McQueen Skeleton Bracelet and I was immediately fixated. The gold-tone skeleton holding a red glass stone embellishment packs just the right kind of edge. I personally would make this bracelet the statement piece of my outfit by wearing it with something understated – the gold would pop against a solid color. Plus, each time I looked at it, I would pretend I actually had just a bit of a bad girl side after all. Buy through farfetch.com for $545.50.
