At this point, if you don’t like leopard print, I feel kind of bad for you. It seems as though every brand under the sun, from high-end to low-end and everything in between, has released some sort of leopard bag for fall. The trend is inescapable, which is great if you’re like me and you already had a pair of glittery silver and black leopard leggings left over from last year. Yeah, I said it.

If I had an extra four grand laying around, this Chanel Strass and Tweed Leopard Classic Flap would be the perfect compliment to my admittedly tacky-but-fun leggings. Or to a black dress of any sort. Or any outfit, really.

I don’t adore the actuality of this bag, but the idea is wonderful. The scale of the leopard print needs to be a bit smaller for the bag since it’s rendered in separate crystals and not a solid color, and the combination of the size and material makes the end result a bit awkward. It wouldn’t need to be much smaller – just a tad. But for the price, I’d want it to be absolutely perfect (not to mention made of leather instead of tweed). Buy through Chanel for $4000. For more purchasing information and assistance locating this bag, please contact Chanel at (800)550-0005.

I’m a huge fan of all things Chanel, and this is no exception! It’s a very good iteration of classic leopard print with an edgy twist. But, would we expect anything less from Mr. Lagerfeld?

  • Staci

Amanda, I want this bag!! I’ve never seen leopard done like this. Chanel has stolen my heart! All I have to do now is scrape up $4,000! ;-)

  • Laura

This is a very cute bag but if I were to spend $4000, I’d rather buy the classic flap. I’m not a big fan of leopard but this year it’s crazy, it’s everywhere so I guess I’ll follow the trend but at a much lower price point.

Chanel can do no wrong in my book normally but I would rather have seen a traditionally leopard print on pony hair, boring maybe but still a classic for me. This ones too blingy for my tastes

Wow! So they are bringing bag the animal prints this year huh? Fantastic! lol

I was just in a department store yesterday in Beverly Hills and was talking to one of the handbag salesclerks. We were taking about how designers have lost their minds with the pricing. And Chanel popped up in the discussion. The salesclerk commented that one of her customers who has bought Chanel for decades just refuses now to buy it now although she can. But, for her it’s the principal of the think and she refuses to dish out $4,000 for a handbag. She’s also tired of Chanel’s ridiculous and constant price increases.

i agree its a fun bag but for 4k i’d rather invest in a classic version, which is what they’re really known for.

  • Demi

The price is really high. Wonder why designers increase their prices during recession???
Anyway, the bag is great. Chanel can make leopard print look so classy!

  • Kelly

@ Bagolicious- I completely agree with the customer at the dept store. Chanel is very attuned to supply and demand. From SAs at different Chanel stores I’ve talked with, they have decreased their supply this year. Given that its Chanel I believe their bags will still sell no matter how much they are, I just won’t be joining the hunt for their $3400 classic flap bag. An $800 increase is ridiculous.

Sadly, I’m one of those who doesn’t like leopard prints… (yes, I am a part of the anti trend society who lives underground).
No, but really I’ve never been a huge fan of leopard and that is something I can honestly say.
I’m not sure why, but I’ve always found that print a bit too much for me… and it’s the same with polka dots…
Although this chanel bag is quite fantastic ! I love when classic things gets a “makeover” !
The chanel 2.55 has always been my absolutely favorite ! (well, after the birkin).

I am not anti-trend. I have been wearing leopard for years. I am so glad to see that it’s “trendy” now because I can have a better variety of all things animal from which to choose. With that being said, I don’t like this bag at all. Maybe there’s something wrong with my eyes, but I don’t see the “animal” in this bag. For me, it looks like blinged out lips are covering the bag.

I never liked leopard. I think at one point i tried to like the trend, since its a revolving one, but i couldn’t cave enough to with stand Leopard anything! However, Chanel does take it up a notch to a tolerant leopard, to me.

Oh Gosh…Someone, during the holiday, should have hit Karl’s head….because it’s impossible that this bag is a Chanel creation!!! Chanel is luxe, elegance, crativity not vulgarity!!!!!!

I honestly hate leopard print done with strass on black. It looks so disco in a bad way.

  • MAC

I like this but recommend the one I just got, it is the classif flap in metallic silver – it is blingy but has some room for my stuff – they have it on the Chanel website – sidebar, I found a decent vintage shop that sells some old styles, worth checking it out – I posted it in my blog: http://shhhstore.blogspot.com/2010/08/i-wish-for-every-woman-to-own-chanel.html
