Sometimes it works, sometimes not, lol. As a rule, I love almost ALL MJ bags. He does very little wrong in my book. I may not pick up this bag for fall, as it's not too interesting in my eyes, but I will likely pick up some purple MJ bag, as I agree...purple is the obsession right now. I totally agree with the fact that the color and leather are the perfect complement to the simple design. Also, the plum color is naturally a very warm color, but the glazed leather really jazzes it up and makes it seem much brighter. Purple is my favorite color for bags as well :) And the color makes it so versatile- you could wear it with summer whites or winter greys. I love love love this tote! Simplicity is too often overlooked and unappreciated, but I love the classic, structured lines of this bag and it's clean rolled leather handles.
