Celebrities: they’re just like us! Well, they’re just like us in that they have handbag preferences, anyway. Because we keep close watch on the day-to-day handbag choices of Hollywood’s biggest bag lovers, we tend to pick up on those preferences over time, and today, we’re here to talk about what it is that supermodel Miranda Kerr likes in a handbag.
We have long admired Miranda Kerr because few celebs (yes, even supermodels) make A-list style look so effortless. Last week, we showed you all the chunky heels Taylor Swift has been favoring as she continues to careen through the fly-by-night fashion preferences of her mid-twenties, but if the thought of chunky heels (and being in your mid-twenties) triggers a slight gag reflex, well, Miranda’s sartorial shoe game is the perfect antidote to all of that.
Celebs are over the moon for totes, and they’re carrying everything from ye olde favorites (I mean the Céline Luggage Tote, of course), to gargantuan Hermès bags that threaten to engulf their carriers, to svelte Michael Kors totes that are actually a riff on a Michael Kors style that was immensely popular circa 2014.
New York Fashion Week is officially upon us, and celebrities have amped up their handbag game accordingly. This week’s picks are a lot more sparkly and colorful, as well as noticeably more high-end. NYFW gives celebs plenty of opportunities to carry their preferred totes and satchels by day and their most dazzling designer clutches by night, though some opt for bags with chains!
Celebs can’t always be on their A-game (unless they’re at a holiday fundraiser with an event carpet; it might be contractually required), but they can at least rely on their solid handbag picks to shine when the paps catch them on an off day.
You might not able to guess which bag Cindy Crawford has been carrying for seven years. It’s not Chanel, or Chloé, or any handbag brand that’s repeatedly demonstrated a decade’s worth of staying power, though it is a brand that is legendary in its own way, despite not being especially well-known for its handbags.
Once the air turns crisp, everyone gets excited to pull out their old fall favorites (or stock up on new fall favorites), and apparently this sort of seasonal nostalgia extends to Céline bags. Just think, in mere months our photo service will be awash in bare-legged, sandal-wearing celebrities in the snow.
This week, celebs have surprised us with a few rather obscure handbag choices from lesser-known brands that are at the peripheries of our radar, as well as bags from the major brands that generally have a lower profile.
It’s July, and celebs are sporting some premium peak summer looks. It’s just teased hair, short shorts, mini-dresses and mesh for days. Summer celebs are probably my favorite celebs. Their bag selections are both brightly colored or neutral.
Our metaphorical cup runneth over with celebrity handbags. We’re still sorting through pics from the hours preceding the Met Ball, and people’s pre-Ball handbags were sometimes more interesting than what they wore later that evening. And yes, you’re right, the Met Ball was last week, but there was so much to look at that we thought a tour through the pre-party looks we missed might be in order, plus some top-notch celebrity looks from the past few days.
Why does a satchel or top handle handbag have so much more gravitas than other handbags? Why does it go so well with business attire? Is it the serious, boxy shape? The lack of straps? Does carrying a bag in hand somehow signify that you are more hands-on?
