Our metaphorical cup runneth over with celebrity handbags. We’re still sorting through pics from the hours preceding the Met Ball, and people’s pre-Ball handbags were sometimes more interesting than what they wore later that evening. And yes, you’re right, the Met Ball was last week, but there was so much to look at that we thought a tour through the pre-party looks we missed might be in order, plus some top-notch celebrity looks from the past few days.

You’ve likely seen plenty of coverage of the dresses stars wore on the red carpet at last night’s Chine-themed Met Ball, but now, we’re here to do what we do best: look at bags. Sometimes formal events don’t yield a great selection of accessories, but last night’s clutch choices could scarcely have been better.
Saint Laurent’s Sac de Jour has quietly-yet-deliberately infiltrated the hearts and minds of celebrities over the past year. It’s not that the bag itself is remarkable; it’s really not, which may be part of the appeal. It’s sort of an anti-“it” bag–classically styled and fairly inconspicuous, with minimal branding.
The 2015 Golden Globes took place last night, and that means that awards season has officially begun. As we do every year, we’ll be scoping out all the best handbags from the industry’s fanciest red carpets. Although our photo service was inexplicably light on pictures from last night’s main red carpet, we scoured both those photos and those from the after-parties to bring you over a dozen celebrity bag choices from Sunday’s festivities.
Here’s Kerry Washington, attending a private party in LA with a Prada Face Mural Shoulder Bag, which was one of the most eye-catching pieces from the brand’s Spring 2014 collection. The line has long since sold out, but it was so popular that Prada is doing some more girl clutches and things for the upcoming season, like this close-up version: the Napa Zip Girl Clutch, which is currently available at Bergdorf Goodman for $1,195.
If you’re one of the zillions of Scandal fans out there, you already know that our one true hero, Olivia Pope, returns to television after a too-long holiday hiatus in a little over 24 hours. In the two-and-a-half seasons of Scandal that have already transpired, DC political fixer Olivia, played by the excellent Kerry Washington, has become something of a wardrobe icon for women who work hard, love luxury and want to look both professional and totally feminine in both their professional and personal lives.
Sunday’s 2013 Emmy Awards were weird, but don’t let that discourage you from diving deep into the attendees’ particularly fabulous handbags from the pre-show red carpet. Often, awards shows are a tough place for bags – traditionally, many stars choose to do photos without their bags in tow, which puts a damper on our fun almost as much as floor-length gowns bum out shoe-lovers.
If you’ve been anywhere near your Twitter account on a recent Thursday evening, you might have noticed that basically everyone on Earth watches (and loves) Scandal. I’m hesitant to admit that I’ve never seen the show, but it’s the next thing up on my catch-up list after I get done re-watching The West Wing on Netflix, which is actually a fairly appropriate progression.
So here’s something interesting: At the Golden Globe Awards two weeks ago, our expert analysis (that would be me, squinting at paparazzi photos for several hours) found that Roger Vivier’s evening bags won the day as handbag of choice for the widest variety of starlets.
