I have a little confession to make: I was never all that big of a fan of the Yves Saint Laurent Muse. Yes, it was a major It Bag back in the mid-2000s and still endures as a favorite today, but it just never really tickled my fancy in the same way that other popular bags from that era did. The Yves Saint Laurent Muse II, however? I’ve always loved it unconditionally, and seeing this lovely red version for spring confirms that those feelings show no signs of abating.

I’m not sure what makes me love this bag so much. The propensity for the design to come in multicolor versions? Its vaguely nautical lines? The lovely way it sags when carried on the arm? I don’t know, but I’m not so concerned with the knowing as I am with the having.

Here at PurseBlog, we are generally of the opinion that trends should be secondary to wearing things that you love and that makes you feel wonderful, no matter what the fashion industry wants you to wear, but since we’re a fashion blog, we sort of have to cover them. And although I may not be a big lover of orange for a variety of reasons, it’s going to be difficult to avoid the hue in a couple months’ time.

Once I saw the Yves Saint Laurent Roady Hobo in what the brand calls “flame,” I knew that there was no escaping the onslaught of orange. My sales associate at Jeffrey told me that they had ordered a lot of orange and coral for spring, and since the boutique’s owner Jeffrey Kalinsky is also an executive vice president at Nordstrom, it’s safe to say that orange will be showing up there as well, not to mention in every other department store in existence. Brights had a moment on the Spring 2011 runways in what seemed like a direct response to Fall 2010′s neutral palette, and fiery shades in particular look to be among the biggest winners of the season.

Suede bags are hard to maintain, but can still give a great soft touch with a hint of fall and winter to the right bag. Yves Saint Laurent proves that with the YSL Suede Sac Trench, which has a tan suede body offset by contrasting leather whipstitching. And you know what? I totally love it.

After our launch of TalkShoes, my love of looking at shoes is finally transferring to a love of wanting to wear these shoes. You see, I was always a bag girl, not a shoe girl. But now I am starting to grow my shoe collection and I am constantly drawn to over-the-top artistic shoes. Amanda covered the much talked about YSL Mohawk Pumps on TalkShoes already and from the fall collection there is a bag that compliments these pumps ideally.

The simplicity of the Yves Saint Laurent Chyc Large Patent Flap Shoulder Bag reminds me of the Celine Classic Box Bag, which you already know I love. Paired with the funky YSL Mohawk pumps, I think we have the perfect pair.

To paraphrase a cheesy old pickup line, do you believe in love at first sight, or does the Yves Saint Laurent Vanity Bowler need to walk by again?

For me, the bag had to walk by a second time, but after a that I had no more doubts. The shape is unexpected, the color is a touch lighter than the military trend generally dictates and the bag looks just different enough to make it stand out without all of that needy attention-seeking that tends to come from accessory designers with less finesse than the fine folks at Yves Saint Laurent.

There’s nothing to dislike about the Yves Saint Laurent Printed Calf Hair Clutch and I won’t let you or anyone else tell me otherwise!

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m craving winter so badly. Yesterday I wore jeggings (don’t judge me) to the mall in silent protest of the 95-degree temperatures we’ve been having since…May. It’s been a long summer.

I live in Atlanta, so I have about six more weeks of genuinely warm weather before I even get to think about breaking out any kind of long-sleeve options for daytime wear (and even then, that’s only if I’m lucky), but the sight of the Yves Saint Laurent Studded Suede Roady has me wanting winter even more.
