We want to wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for this year and much of it revolves around our amazing readers, forum members, and partners. So, thank you for helping make this year be what it is, and we hope you are enjoying your day with family and loved ones and eating as much delicious food as possible.
Happy Labor Day to all of our US readers! I spent much of the weekend on the couch because I somehow caught a cold, but that didn’t keep me from feeling a deep Chanel obsession. Not only did it take over every part of my being, but it also gave me the urge to scour both my closet and my girlfriend’s to look at Chanel pieces.
In doing so, I found the perfect compilation of Chanel everything for an accessories post. Of course I had to have a Chanel bag, and the classic caviar Timeless Clutch is a favorite. This is my girlfriend’s bag and one of her favorite evening clutches because it is both spacious and totally chic. Unlike the Classic Flap Bags, the Timeless Clutch runs at a reasonable price in (relative to other Chanel bags) even though there’s nothing lackluster about it. (Current price varies depending on material.) (more…)
Oh, how I wish that Oscar de la Renta made more handbags. I wish it with every ounce of my being because then I would have that many more opportunities to write about this designer-genius that pays such close attention to detail, fabrics and colors that it makes my fashion-loving heart pound. Luckily, OdlR does design a collection of bags (and furthermore, in running this website, I have free reign to add a little Oscar delight in here whenever I’d like to). And for this, you should be happy, because I like to think of these photos of the Oscar de la Renta Resort 2012 collection as a treat to your eyes. Click to check the full gallery!
I never shared my experience of the Salvatore Ferragamo Resort 2012 show with you. Shame on me because it was drop dead gorgeous, the kind of gorgeous that made me pinch myself to see if what I was experiencing was a dream. Held at the James B. Duke Mansion, this was the first time Ferragamo has shown in NYC and many celebrities and fashion insiders were in attendance. The paparazzi were out in full force trying to photograph the likes of Eva Mendes, Emma Roberts, Minka Kelly and more. I thoroughly enjoyed the celebrity spotting as well, but the show itself was what I was there for and it was breathtaking.
When the music began, the models began their walk through the mansion and the collection reminded us that resort is all about chic. Blue, white, and silver took over the runway and for twenty minutes I forgot where I was and was transported to the resort world of Ferragamo.
Fashion power designer Nicole Miller has already dressed some of the most beautiful and stylish women on the face of the planet, and now she has her sights set on the handbag world. Typically when a designer first enters a new realm, there are a few seasons of trial and error before the designs start to flow. But the opposite can be said for Miller, who started with a innovative concept in her Bicycle Chain Bag and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.
Nicole Miller’s Fall 2011 collection mixes edgy downtown style with an affordable price tag, which is a powerful combination indeed. The overall theme revolves around bike chains and other bike accessories. While that may sound chintzy, any trepidation disappears once you see how the designs have been realized. Rugged and biker-chic come to mind when we previewed the fall collection, and I can’t wait to see how Miller expands on these ideas for future designs. Click for more images!
Yesterday afternoon marked the VIP night of this year’s bi-annual Rebecca Minkoff Sample Sale. Since we were co-hosting the sale, Megs and I were invited to enter an hour before the doors opened to the public to check out the goods, mingle with celebs like Michelle Trachtenberg of Gossip Girl and chat with the RM team.
The initial onslaught of shoppers hit right when the doors opened at 4pm. An hour after the opening the line of awaiting shoppers actually vanished off 5th Avenue, just to then resurge with people leaving work around 6:30pm. Friends told us that the line eventually wrapped nearly two blocks by 8-9pm. Click to view the full gallery
