This bag has me sold. Screw the east, screw the west, I’d take this pup on a north / south trip any day! Either way, I love the new Dior Flight Large East/West Bag from Dior’s new Flight collection, just because it combines both ruggedness (the bag’s structure and appeal implies to me that it could take quite the beating) and the sheer elegance of a typical Dior. Not to mention, it looks so timeless – the large ‘D’ snap on the shoulder strap and the interlock ‘D’ on its front look stunning with the supple, grained leather in brown. A front tag cleverly prompts you to “Remove Before Flight”. I am sure you wouldn’t have to travel a lot to look great with it and make other’s eyes stare at it in envy. The 12″ x 5.5″ x 4″ bag goes for $1,550 and is immediately available through eLuxury.
Surprisingly I have never once talked about Vera Bradley. Never. I realized that just the other day and was a little shocked at myself. Not that Vera Bradley has always been my favorite, but it was definitely worth mentioning. I can’t decide what has deterred me from Vera Bradley bags so badly. It may have been the teenie-boppers who swore it was a trend and they could pull it off, or the college girls who carried it to seem like a sophisticated growing woman, or the mere fact that it is a quilted flowered bag that somewhat reminds me of my grandma. Somewhere in there Vera Bradley lost it’s appeal to me. But as the trend of the bag has slowly died down, I am not finally appreciating the bags more properly. I just love the feel of them. It’s the “hey I just got back from my ranch in the Hampton’s where I spent the weekend riding my prized horse, picking Lilly’s by the pond, and drinking tea.” I love that feel. I must admit I like to be a little sophisticated from time to time, and that feeling reminds me of good ole’ boarding school.
Between the amazing amounts of bags and variations I have found my liking with the simple shaped but totally practical Vera Bradley Villager bag in Bermuda Blue. I love the shape. I know totes are everywhere, but they are so super practical, I can not pass them up. The color chart is huge (about 21 colors to chose from) but the Bermuda Blue is touching my liking. The beauty of the light blue color mixed with the simple design of some green and white just makes me happy. The bag has everything you could wish for: a key clip, zip closure, a sturdy base, and three pockets outside and six inside for organization. The size is plenty big,16″L x 12 ½”H x 4″W. So why not learn to love Vera? One more reason to love her is the bag is a mere $69 through Vera Bradley.
I can not get that Jessica Simpson song and video ” These Boots are Made for Walkin’ “ out of my mind. I saw the video for the first time yesterday and just stared with my mouth open. Oh my how the ministers daughter has grown up! Although I can’t picture him to be a real minister, I think he is a fake and used it as a gimmick to promote her virgin singing career. I know I may sound like I am bashing her here, but I am not. In the video, she looks hot. I would love to look that way and dance around in a bikini and wash cars all day long- and make money doing it. But I’m not. Where have I gone wrong? So since I’ve been humming the tune of that song in my head all night long, when I ran into this Miu Miu Suede Flower Bag it totally fit my mood.
Unfortunately Saks has left us with little info about this sexy little bag, but I’m really lovin’ it for fall! The Miu Miu bag is made of distressed suede and is adorned with a detachable flower pin. To me that is such a nifty little addition because not only can you accessorize your purse with it, but also other outfits. Oh man, I just said nifty. Anyhow the bag also has an inside zipper pocket and runs just below $900. Purchase it at Saks for $895.
Anthropologie Moonlight Satchel
Jul 15, 2005 / Posted in Satchels, Shoulder Bags by Megs Mahoney Dusil.
Many purses and handbags that I see are never quite whimsical. I dig whimsical from time to time. Especially with the mood of summer, it is just kind of fitting. Hence I am in love with this Anthropologie Moonlight Satchel. I have mentioned before that I really love the summer airy- flowing look. I love to just through on a long light skirt and a tank and hop out the door. This bag I think could add a perfect touch to any outfit. The bag is made with folds of yellow tulle ripple which are gently flowing over the body of the green cotton hobo, which creates the effect of a moonlit aqua sea. I love the look of a moonlit ocean/sea. It is breathtaking. Also the bag has sequined bows and sashes which give off an added sparkle while dangling freely from this chic bag. Only $178 through Anthropologie.
Sorry for the short post but I am on my way out the door for the weekend! Don’t fear, Vlad will be in charge until I get back. He usually enjoys some fun while I’m out of town, so I am sure he will entertain you all! Have a great weekend
Looking for a leightweight shoulder bag for school or daily errands? Like to bike around a lot? The Martin Margiela Shoulder Dag might come in handy. For 140 bucks you get a 100% cotton made cross body build, that has “100% polyester – Made In Italy” stamped all over it. Although printed in small letters, it’s still a cute silhouette and gives the white or black bag a funny edge. Measuring in at 11 by 20 inches and having a strap length of 43 inches, the bag is available through Ahloarag.com.
Amidst the warm summer days, a really nasty cold front with rain, thunder and lightning, very, very frightening, has hit the usually beautiful Rhine river area around Bonn, the former capitol of Germany (as you may or may not know). As the lightning bolts were striking the rooftops, I was thinking it’d be the perfect time to write about a bag that will be be immune to all the nasty and ugly weather conditions that may occur, yet still look swell on hot summer days while being toted around proudly on its owner’s shoulder.
I stumbled upon this gorgeous piece at Bluefly. The ivory canvas brown leather Hogan shoulder bag. That bag just has all-season written all over it. No matter what trends may hit us, this chic bag won’t ever make you look out of place. The Hogan bag is made of ivory canvas and brown leather accents with a contrast beige stitching. Top zip closure and a long 17” long shoulder straps keep its content dry and assure a comfy fit under that umbrella. Several patch pockets at front, back and sides give enough room to quickly stow away misc stuff, while gold nylon lining with interior zip pocket will make its insides shine like only Marcellus Wallace’s mysterious briefcase did back in 1994. Whoa! Good news is, it’s on sale. Marked down 20 percent, the Hogan goes for 475 American dollars.
I do appreciate bags that sets certain moods, bags that have outstanding features and catch other people’s attention. I do believe that the Arche Irish is a candidate for just that job. As plain as it may seem, it is the simplistic design and the loose, buttoned straps that add appeal. It gives a soothing vibe, perfect for the hectical and stressful urban lifestyle. The flat north/south hobo is made of pure soft lamb skin, while its halves are held together by a magnetic snap closure. An inside back zip pocket, a cell pocket and a key ring loop take care of stowing away the dailies. Two wooden buttons adjust the strap length, enabling you to carry it cross-body. The ‘Irish’ can be your daily companion for $445. The dimensions: 11 1/2″ wide x 2″ deep x 15″ length.
On this very occasion I would like to point out, being the computer savvy person that I am, that Macs are such better working machines than any other Wintel box. I don’t know what it is, I can’t point a finger at it, but matter of fact remains that ever since my Windoze machine crapped out on me two days ago, I’ve gotten so much more productive work done on the Mac laptop in a day than a week’s worth on the large Windows desktop. My next desktop machine will most certainly carry the Apple logo on it as well, there is no doubt about it (although, as some of you might have heard, it will have an Intel heart beating inside). Back to the regularly scheduled program.
I’ve taken the hyperproductive, workaholic stage to my full advantage and was looking for a cheap handbag alternative. I am aware that we do a whole lotta premium designer stuff on our blog, and sometimes we forget to keep the healthy balance between affordable and glam. Hence, let me introduce the Hype Notoriety Shoulder Bag. For a mere $125 you get a cute little round number with soft grain leather in dark teal with natural stitching, that just happens to remind me of a dwarf. I don’t know, it’s just the round thickness that got me thinking of dwarves. 22 inch long camel top straps with side ring detail rest on your shoulder, while lobster clip detail completes its sides. Its insides reveal an orange twill lining with a zip pocket, slit pocket and two patch pockets, while the outter front places three flap pockets with magnetic closure for celly, lipstick or other misc items. Measures 13” wide X 9½” tall X 4½” deep, and for hundred and twenty-five dollars American at BlueFly, you can’t go wrong with this buy.
I’m just feelin’ the whole metallic deal today. Never really been a big fan myself for a long time, it’s starting to grow on me. Unlike the Jimmy Choo Bag below, this little shoulder number is a little more discreet about its metallic features. The new Kate Spade Maddox just got into Saks Fifth’s stores and ready to be released to the masses. At a reasonable price of $275, I can see this choco/gold colored bag to be a hit for the fall. The bag comes in a cotton canvas with metallic leather trim and straps, the flap top is secured via pyramid turn-lock closure. Two open and one zipper inside pockets held in polka dot print cotton lining make its insides. Dimension: 7″H X 13″L X 4″W.
I’m sure you’ve been taught about the early ancestors of the modern homo sapiens sapiens either in biology or later by watching the Discovery Channel. I’m sure also remember from Kubrick’s 2001 the 35 minute intro where the ape people eventually discovered the true functionality of large and heavy animal bones – to beat the others to pulp. There is a point that I am trying to make, so bear with me. You see, sometimes there is just that one bag that I can imagine awakens any female’s primal instincts, specifically the most basic of them all – gaining the edge over the next woman and showing her who’s the boss! Thou shalt not covet anything that is thy neighbor’s.? Screw the bitch, gimme my bag. Beat it for what it’s worth! Either way, my point is that I can see many of you ladies just going ape sh*t over the Gucci Logo Weave Shoulder Bag. Yes, this is the bag that makes you disregard potential jail time!
Expensive, shiny, bamboo, gold, Gucci. Held in tan, brown and gold, this Gucci shoulder bag features the classic Gucci logo-weave canvas with leather accents and magnetic snap closure. A large bamboo shaped ring adornes the front, leather detailing appears in front and back and the double handle, gold-toned bamboo shaped chains measure approximately 15½” in length. Dimensions: 13” wide x 8” tall x 1” base depth. Price: 2,239 dollar American. Where: BlueFly.com.
