Shoulder Bags

When I was younger, I thought it was really cool when I heard a price like $9.99, $76.54, or $33.33. Get the drift. There was some sort of mathematical pattern that appealed to my overly educated brain. (I guess that is what you call the small things in life that bring cheap pleasure). Luckily I have found a bag with a little mathematical pleasure that may also be appealing to the eyes.

The Hype Nutmeg Glazed Pebble Leather Shoulder Bag could easily be used as your everyday bag because of the color, material, and style. This bag is roomy enough to be carried for some heavy lugging- measuring approximately 14” wide X 8” tall X 4½” deep. Also the nutmeg color leather is easy to match with nearly any outfit if you aren’t into buying a new bag every week for every outfit, or like most of us (including myself), can’t afford it. The exterior looks pretty luscious to me, made of glazed pebble leather with gold-tone metal hardware accenting and contrast stitching. The bag closes with a magnetic leather strap which goes over the top of the bag along with a leather buckle strap across the front of the bag. A fuggin’ we will go, a fuggin’ we will go, Hi-Ho the ugly bag, a fuggin’ we will go! It’s been a while since we have showed you the fug of the world of handbags and purses. But it is time again, and unfortunately from a designer that I really happen to like. Luella, what have you done? Luella decided to release the fug of all fugs and of all bags that have fringes and dangles, the Luella Fringed Tassel Shoulder Bag. What the heck is behind this bag? If a mom carried this bag and I were a kid, I would be inclined to run back and forth through the fringes that seriously hang down to her knees, or I would hang on it and swing back and forth. As a matter of fact, I would still do that and I’m a grown woman (by age standards at least). The bag starts off nice with its base. The bag compartment itself is made of chocolate brown calfskin with the signature large leather heart shaped tags. Everything good so far. Also, the bag is accented with gold hardware and has a shoulder strap with gold rings on the end. Still we are good to go. The rest of the small stuff like the hook closure with gold heart charms is still cute and good. I don’t mind the blue stitching. But all of a sudden it is like we have plummeted down Mt. Kilimanjaro to the tassels. These tassels are unbearable. Why the heck do the hang so freggin low to the ground. If you are short, they may even just drag on the ground behind you. The gold, brown, and blue tassels along the base are fuggin’ Fugly. I really wish the dimensions of how far down those things go were available. Because, it’s just awful. The bag is overall awful. Even worse is the price they want for this thing. My good guess is you will never need to be put on a waiting list for this sucker- I don’t know who in their right mind would like this bag for $1950 via Net-A-Porter (I hope it is not YOU!).

Plain and simple bags are sometimes what we all have been longing to see. Yet sometimes, I’m just not getting a strong enough vibe from them. This DKNY Soft Nappa East/West Shoulder Bag is right on the border for me of liking it and thinking it needs a little more oomph. The bag is made of soft glazed Nappa leather, is accented with polished silver metal hardware, and has a double-D charm dangling on bag front. *I think it will be quite funny if some search engines pick up Double-D meaning a woman’s chest rather than a charm- Ha*. The shoulder strap is also made of leather and can be adjusted with a cute buckle system- which will give the drop about 9.5″. The inside of this bag is lined in twill, has a zipped pocket and two patch pockets, and helps the bag close by magnets. The overall size of this shoulder bag is 14.5″ x 6.5″ x 3.5″. It’s fug time. This is a bit more than just a plain Blah bag, its fuggilicious! Usually I love Marc Jacobs bags. I love their new quilted bags. But I ran into this thing, and it’s not doing anything but making me wanna run the other way. The Marc Jacobs Mink Flap Shoulder Bag makes sure to follow the trend setting with using exotic fabric, mink, but the overall bag has absolutely no appeal. Let me start with what I can like by itself first, then move to what I hate. First I actually really think the mink looks gorgeous (it should right? It’s mink!). Umm I guess the leather lining with the inside pocket would be fine too. But what I don’t like is the goldtone double chain strap with the absolutely hideous mink accents. Seriously, it looks like some of those arts and crafts puffy balls you used in Pre-School when being creative. This fug bag measures 10″H X 9″L X 2″W and sells for a whopping $2,900 through Saks.

I’ve come to the sad and dire conclusion that my love for handbags is utterly not affordable. If I could, I would buy a new bag each and everyday. Problem with that is the lack of funds. Because of this, I feel like joining my lil bro in his quest to win the lotto. His ultimate goal in life right now (he’s a male, it happens) is to win the lotto and live on the beach forever. As of now, he hasn’t won and is still wishing one of us (as in me, my sister, my brother, or my parents) would support him for life in turn for his taking care of the landscaping. Ha. My dad, Mr. “I Work My Ass Off to Provide For my Family” Business man, is thinking No. Brothers are great. While I join him in the quest to win the lotto, I’d still like to buy some stylish bags from time to time.

Many brands are huge right now, and Kooba is one of them. I love the shape of the Kooba Large Sienna Suede Bag. I’ve been searching for another new fall bag and this Kooba bag made of suede with its whipstitch detailing, rounded rivets, and brass hardware really is quite fashionable. Other features include the Kooba lining and side pockets. The dimensions are 13″ L x 7″ W x 9 1/2″ H. The bag is wallet-friendly enough that I don’t have to hit the lotto to buy it, but still is chic enough that I’d love to wear it. The bag can be purchased through Bergdorf Goodman for $595.

Many little girls love Zebras. Actually, many people in general love Zebras. They look like your average horse, but they sure are not. There are colored stripes! I think a Zebra is as close to a Unicorn that we can get. A Unicorn would be super cool with the horn and maybe the ability to fly, but the Zebra is a sure runner-up. Animal prints come and go with seasons and new styles, but there are always the ladies who are more than capable to pull off the look. The Valentino White Zebra Pony Hair Shoulder Bag is a bold styled bag with alot of character. For all of you who would hate to see a Zebra be killed for this bag, you are in luck. The next update on the Henri Bendel store trip comes a little late, I spent time with Megs tonight and didn’t get to it until now. Still, there is more bag goodness to be shared with the masses that crave for more at this late hour. One bag that most certainly stuck out was the Sherry Wolf Revolution. The folks at HB had it lay out in the store window and it caught our looks by its enormous size. I am talking gigantic. Its slouchy banana-like shape certainly didn’t help it look any smaller, either. The one they had available was metallic gold with semi-precious stones on its wide strap, similar to the two shown on the left in our picture. Of course the one that we saw was about $2oo more than the versions that are sold on their online store, with an added store premium included… doh! Other than that, Megs really liked it. It’s worn cross-body, rather than just hung from the shoulder, it hangs quite low around the hip area (Megs is 5′10″ and it was right around her hip). It does make a great overnight bag, yet I couldn’t resist but think that it looked a little bit like one of those slings that patients with broken arms wear. When it comes down to it, it doesn’t really matter what I think, cuz I wouldn’t be the one wearing it. She really dug the style. Do you?

Sorry!! I know it’s lame to start a post off that way, but I have to because of the lack of current posting and upkeep this week. You may not believe me and think I’m just lazy- but this week has been crazy. I flew back from Germany/Europe on Tuesday night with Vlad, moved to a new place on Thursday, and yesterday we flew down to Florida, and directly after we landed we made a 2 hr drive to go see my lil bro in his soccer tournament. So this week has been C-R-A-Z-Y. But now I am back, I believe I have caught up in my sleep and I’m ready to go
