A few years ago, Zac Posen had a handbag line. It wasn’t great. It wasn’t bad, per se, but it resulted in little consumer fervor and eventually went the way of the dodo bird. Now that Posen’s diffusion line, Z Spoke Zac Posen, has come into its own and found retail support, the company is giving handbags a shot again, but this time at a lower price point.

If the Z Spoke Zac Posen Top Handle Satchel is any indication, I’m feeling cautiously optimistic about the brand’s handbag prospects. One problem with Posen’s old line was that I didn’t get a sense of his clothes’ femininity and fun when I looked at them, but I see both immediately in this design.

Admittedly, the large leather bows on the bag’s gussets won’t please everyone, but they probably will please people who enjoy Posen’s aesthetic. That appeal was missing from his previous accessories attempts, which made it difficult for them to find an audience (and, most importantly, to find people willing to pay full price for them). With a lower contemporary price point and perhaps some new creative verve, maybe Posen can now find his handbag niche. Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $525.

Way too classic/girly for me, but I can see how it would appeal to ladies who prefer that aesthetic.

It is a brave color choice. Strong and sure would look great against black/grey casual clothes.
I didn’t know a bag had gussets ! But I don’t like the large bows.
It looks quite strongly constructed which I like as who wants a bag that looks like it can’t make the distance. Too coral in color for me though…

I love the color and hate the bows. They are too big.
I am all about girly and feminine, but this is a miss for me.

I love the colour, not sure about the bows, though.

I love coral and I love bows but the balance is off on this bag the bows are to big for such a small bag.

I bought this bag in tan a while ago, I love it but I have to return it because it didn’t keep closed. See my blog post.
