In case you didn’t see me say it the first four thousand or so times, brights are kind of a big deal right now. Kind of a very big deal, and it’s about time. Remember that season not long ago when camel was the big thing? Yeah, I wasn’t so much on board with that. I am, however, on board with anything that gives us bags like the Botkier Charlotte Satchel in this gorgeous shade of red.
Botkier sticks mostly to neutrals in recent seasons with an occasional bright here and there, and it always makes me excited to see the brand bring out a vermillion or cobalt or lemon leather. Naturally, this bag piqued my interest as soon as I saw it at press previews six months ago.
Petite, structured bags are just as popular as brights are, and this purse strikes a nice balance between Botkier’s slouchy, downtown cool and the industry’s prevailing trends. It’s not too rigid, and that’s absolutely the right choice on the part of the Botkier’s designers. Going too far in service of a trend only hurts a brand’s identity, and this bag still has Botkier written all over it. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $575.
