I love to write about specialty bags above all others, mostly because they’re very easy to pick. When you’re only going to use a purse for a particular occasion or event, fashion can come before function and designers can do fun, interesting things without much criticism. Perhaps the most difficult thing to do in modern handbag design is to create a functional, attractive bag that can be used during the day and in a variety of situations. Making that bag appeal to many different kinds of women is even harder.
The Rebecca Minkoff Everyday Bag might just have pulled it off, though. It can be carried as a tote, satchel or crossbody, the bag has lots of pockets and compartments, and the simple black leather construction means that it’s both work and weekend appropriate. From the looks of it, even the kicky little tassel can be removed.
The leather on this bag is perhaps a little more weathered-looking than I’d prefer (matte is the way to go if you want a bag that looks expensive), but Minkoff’s bags tend to settle in with time and get softer and slouchier. If you’ve been thinking about getting one of her bags but want something that can go the distance and that you won’t see on every other girl on the street, this tote is a great choice.
