Ever see a brand new handbag from a line you’ve never heard of before and get a little excited? It’s a rare feeling because most new bag designers have a lot of kinks to work out before their products are great, but it looks like the industry veterans behind the Oliveve Cynthia Leather Duffel already have a handle on what it is that makes a bag covetable.

Bloomingdale’s pictures of this bag don’t really do it justice based on some other shots that I’ve seen, but you definitely get the idea – the leather is the focus with this line, to the near-exclusion of hardware. And honestly, it’s about time. “Contemporary” designers tend to layer on the crap to maximize trendiness, which leads to their bags looking outdated almost immediately.

This satchel and the others from Oliveve don’t have that look at all. In fact, they look totally touchable and soft, which is the quickest way to my heart no matter what the price point. Luckily, this price point is pretty great. Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $495 or visit Oliveve’s website to see the rest of the brand’s first collection.

I am in love with this bag!!!!
I just bought it in grey from bloomingdales 2 weeks ago….It is incredible and the lamb just gets better with wear! The coziest- cool bag I have ever owned, And believe me….their have been MANY!

I love my bag too! It is THE most functional bag I have ever had; holds and organizes everything, but never looks bulky. Only getting softer and cooler with wear…

the design looks similar to an old Foley+Corinna handbag from so many years ago.

i must agree. i do like this bag, notice how they did not use flashy hardware to catch the attention away from the actual design? the leather looks beautiful and you can almost feel it from where i’m sitting. speaking of new stuff wonder if… you all have heard or seen stuff by adriana vargas, a colombian designer, you can see her stuff in http://www.inanai.com
i like her stuff, it’s fresh design, not the same old stuff in different colors. comments?

I like the design, but I don’t like pebbled leather. Which is another reason why I am not a fan of Alexander Wang’s Rocco bag.
If they came out with a smooth leather version, I am there.

I was visiting LA last week, and found this Cynthia bag in a smooth black leather, in a shop in Santa Monica – Bettina Duncan. The bag is beautiful in the smooth leather!
I wound up buying OLIVEVE’s Izzy sling bag in a very soft weight light black lamb……gorgeous!
although this Cynthia bag is awesome, it is a lot of bag for me.
