Ever see a brand new handbag from a line you’ve never heard of before and get a little excited? It’s a rare feeling because most new bag designers have a lot of kinks to work out before their products are great, but it looks like the industry veterans behind the Oliveve Cynthia Leather Duffel already have a handle on what it is that makes a bag covetable.
Bloomingdale’s pictures of this bag don’t really do it justice based on some other shots that I’ve seen, but you definitely get the idea – the leather is the focus with this line, to the near-exclusion of hardware. And honestly, it’s about time. “Contemporary” designers tend to layer on the crap to maximize trendiness, which leads to their bags looking outdated almost immediately.
This satchel and the others from Oliveve don’t have that look at all. In fact, they look totally touchable and soft, which is the quickest way to my heart no matter what the price point.
